This poem is scary and at the same time, very beautiful. No one wants to feel fear, but once it is faced and overcome, your mind can find peace. Very well written, thanks for sharing this.

Your club response set the tone well, Nancy. The picture pairs
with your well thought out words perfectly. You created a sense
of fear with just 17 syllables.
Good job and thanks for sharing, Jan

Hello Nancy,
This is an excellent senyru for the club event.
Fear or simply darkness, the absence of light,
and by implication knowledge.
The unknown can certainly cause fear,
though it can also have a calming affect.
Nicely done with an excellent photograph.
Best wishes.

I think it very interesting that darkness is almost synonymous with fear. Truthfully, I have witnessed some sight in full daylight that nearly scared the life out of me. I recognize and understand that not being able to see what might be lurking in the darkness can be frightening, but if I could see a bear, a lion or some other frightening, intimidating killing force coming after me, I just might be even more afraid than if challenged by something I could not see. Nevertheless, your poem did a fine job of representing the menace that darkness can impose.

The light can hold terror, too, no doubt. I agree there is fear in both realms. Thanks for reading.

Nancy,
The misty darkness of the artwork match the eerie feel of the words. It is alway a little scary to feel somthing around you in the darkness.
The fits the haiku club challenge well.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Yes, fear is something intangible, it's an emotion that is hard to control. Something sets us off, or danger lurks and that's all she wrote. Thank you for sharing. :)

Hello, Nancy,
I love your fear senryu. You gave me that feeling I have when I'm all alone and I feel a presence touch me... it's really scary. Good job! Good syllables count and connection between lines. Nice presentation. I would add a dash after incorporeal. (Incorporeal--)

Incorporeal is one of my favourite words, and I also love the wafting touch description. Sometimes, we feel as though we've had a close encounter with something foreboding, menacing, and outside our understanding. You've brought that across brilliantly.

Thank you for your comments. English is such a rich language for the weird.

This is a real strong haiku piece. You had the balance of the form, the unusual but still strong natural image, and I liked the epiphany moment, that realization that something is brushing past you in life, something mysterious and ethereal but tangible. It is abstract enough to be mysterious, and tangible enough to be dramatic. Nice job. estory

Thank you for our comments. I took the picture myself so I am doubly complimented.

Fear, I do not like the dark. I have to sleep with some light. My television runs twenty for seven. It is gloomy as the pitch black picture you posted.
As our inner self. It is hard to live with a dark soul. We need light to be lifted. An enlightened spirt lifts our soul. Thank you for posting.

I appreciate you comments. The dark can be too near and the things in it too real, I think.
