I lloved thedescriptions of the baby growing up but the note confused me at first and i thought you must be in New Zealand. I suppose you could be but, in the end, I thought it more likely you were watching the events on a TV wildlife series.

I've been watching it online. Allaboutbirds.com has many webcams to watch.

This is an exceptional piece in every respect. It is very skillfully composed in an appealing and challenging style. It conveys a powerful and moving message about a young one left to fend for himself!

A wonderful poem that showcases your talent, dear Yvonne. I'm sure the baby will fly as nature takes it course. Full grown, he will have bigger wing span, and will float almost effortlessly on the wind.

Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs

I enjoyed your poem. I had no idea you were from New Zealand. I've never seen an Albatross and my only knowledge of the bird comes from the Rhine of the Ancient Mariner. I was feeling sorry for this babe but it seems his mom is giving him a chance to grow up on find his own way.

A beautiful poem, and I love the sentiment of the bird with its sense of isolation, puzzlement and then wonder, but the assurance is included that as nature takes its course and he grows and develops, all will be well. Finely crafted, and a great format - I really like the repetition.

Hi damommy, Yvonne, when I saw the title I knew that it had to be a poem by you. Oh the poor little Albatross. All by his/her lonesome.

Of special note:
I watch the baby albatross,
and see him fall asleep.

(All by his/herself. First we worried about Spirit and now about Alba.
Is the nest in a tree or on the ground? The ground is makes Alba proned to more predators.)

Y, your poem reads and flows well and has beautiful imagery within.
Silky rhyming. Well chosen photo. A pleasure to read. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Thank you, Margaret, for this wonderful review. His nest is on the ground, and so far, he hasn't strayed far from it. He waddles around a bit. His mother brings food (or maybe the father, too?) and other than that, he just sits there. Once in a while he flexes his wings. Someday . . .

I know that I checked on him a few times. I thought he had flown away like Spirit. I'll have to start watching again. Exciting things to still happen--hoping all of them are good. Xo. Margaret ~ LateBloomer

you followed the structure of the poem very nicely with the rhymes and meters and repetitive lines. Well done on the form. I would love to see an Albatros fly in New Zealand. Nice pic with the poem. Well done.

Well, it is a different form. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I do like the short albatross story within. I will read this over a few more times. I think it may simply take getting used to.

I commend you for always expanding your art.
