This poem, Johnny Darc, or perhaps the Ballad of Johnny Darc, finds the untamed pet escaping from what was supposed to be a gilded cage. It is a tough world for a rabbit on the run.

He must have been suicidal. First, he is on the railroad tracks and then beaks in and enters a facility with armed guards. Still, I hold it against the guy.
