Could the screaming be coming from the people ahead of them? The thugs with the jewel? I think that might be who they're about to rescue. Or perhaps fall into their trap?

Thank you, Cindy :-). Traps, of course, take many forms!

Yes, I did enjoy, and I'm able to go to the next chapter, how good is that??
Your writing is brilliant, I always get a giggle from it. I'm glad they are going to help whoever is screaming, and be the good guys. But, most of all, I love Roz. If I come back again, I'd like to be like her. Okay, I'm off to the next part. Loving this. :)) Sandra xx

Well, we needed a way to split up the Harrys :-). I'm so glad you like Roz - she's one of my favourite characters.

Huh, this is an interesting twist, Mike. After all the waiting to repair the wagon, they're going to risk losing the ride in order to save an unknown? That's funny. They obviously are caring deep in their souls. Well done.

Thank you :-). I think Roz sees this as not just a conveniently 'right' course, but a way to defy her enemies who think she has no choice. Of course, that may not be good for her in the long run...

You?re very welcome, Mike. One thing about this story, it can be interpreted differently ways by different readers.

Well, I'm hoping that by doing something "good" by helping whoever that is screaming (assuming it's a good person they want to help) will lead to more people on Rozlyn's side. I guess they are giving up on the wagon and Mr and Mrs Merchant Dwarf...

mon femme." (ma femme) unless you are making fun of French to use the masculine possessive pronoun for a feminine noun.

I think it would be closer to say that Lindon does not know how to use French :-).

We can only hope! I think Rozlyn might only have made the decision because it became an easy choice, but we'll see what happens...

Thanks so much for the great review!

Love the interplay with the merchants, I mean, after all they are only merchants, heh heh. But the persistent screams make a leader want to abdicate, because it becomes decision time, like being a Good Samaritan and needing to help someone, beautifully written my friend, well done Mike, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy :-). Sometimes our conscience is more powerful than immediate need, although it can also be a good excuse to make a decision simpler!

I really greatly enjoyed that. You had me at the summary to be honest, and this was so fun to read, I was truly disappointed when the chapter ended. If this was a book that I randomly picked up in the book store and read the first pages of, I would take it home with me. Lovely.

Thank you so much :-). I was hoping the cheesy 'previously on' device would pay off - I wanted something more fun that a stake recap.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the read!

Fun and funny and with your telling, or Rozlyn's, I could see this on tv. I went, Ew about the bugs in the mattress and "Dirt's sake!" made me laugh. Your characters are fully developed, I think, and this was a great read.

Thanks so much, Tina :-). I have wondered about writing a script with these characters. Maybe that will be a future project.

I truly enjoyed this piece, it reminded me of Dungeons and Dragons sessions I have had with my spouse and friends. I am running into quite a few of your works as I am paging through, and I have to say I have yet to find one I did not enjoy!

On some of my early stories, I actually based the plots on AD&D sessions I used to enjoy (a friend's sadly departed father was an amazing DM). Now Rozlyn and crew are a vehicle for a bit of fun - I like to poke fun at fantasy tropes while secretly indulging them :-)

I didn't know whether to be pleased by this, that your band of mercenaries are showing a chivalrous side, or disappointed that the hexapussy is a receding objective. Your band of merry men is certainly making life complex for itself, and apparantly in full knowledge of all the facts - is disaster striking? Kate xx

Indeed, it's easy to be single minded when there isn't a moral quandary before you! I think Rozlyn's been look for an excuse to change course. Let's see where it lands her...

I am wondering if they'll ever get the jewelry. I am afraid of the answer. I am glad they're going to help whoever or whatever. I really like this story and can't wait to find out what's in store for them. Maybe it has to deal with the Bass brothers.

Thank you, Barbara :-). They may be mercenaries, but they're not cold enough to ignore someone that needs their help. Besides, Rozlyn's in a contrary mood, and she's been aching for a reason to go off piste!
