Yes, you are right that there is a dangerous element to having all our personal information online. The one saving grace is that computers are not quite intelligent. My son-in-law said he new all my data from the mylife website and then he proceeded to list people I didn't know! The website gleaned my neighbors' information, most of whose last names I never knew. Lol. Good throught-provoking piece!

This is indeed all very scary, if we think about it. But I guess most of us do little other than installing protection software, and hope for the best. Thanks for reminding us in this poetic format.

Your poem tells of a frightening truth. A few years ago the idea of hackers paralysed me so much I went through a phase of being unable to open my computer at work in the morning. I just used to sit trembling in front of the black machine waiting for the Departmental Administrator to arrive and save me - fortunately it didn't last too long as my job relied on me working on the computer all day, every day.

A virtual six is the best I can give. This topic is so relevant to current times. After changing my credit card several times, I finally took some advice I initially resisted; I walked with the hostess to the cash register and witnessed the transaction. That change seems to work in my favor, but I'm sure I'll eventually get 'taken' in the future.

The only suggestion I have is to increase the size of the text.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your comments and suggestions. I don't know why the text was so small; I use the default setting here, but this site does have some crazy bugs. I am glad the post made so many think about these issues. estory

This work has reached the exceptional level

The author's words are true, interesting, concerning, promote awareness, are educating, descriptive and creative. Thank you so much for author's notes - they speak volumes! The last line of this poem says so much. How anyone got my debit bank card # is beyond me. I now only use Am Exp to check pending balances daily! Great Poem!

Yes, we are all targets for all sorts of havoc. Parents have brought up this generation of children who do not have morals, values or standards. We are subjective to heartless souls. I see it everywhere. Cell phones and computers are being used to steal whatever they can get from us. They are lazy and untrustworthy. The entire world is full of terror.

Thanks for this well written poem and commentary on information backlog and overload.

- Even more troubling is who processes the information and assesses the algorithms used to analyse and bombard with advertising and even more...information.

-Thanks for writing about these troubling trends and realities. You've done a great job resuming and presenting the issues, challenges they pose and impact.
Thought provoking and revealing. Well done.

While it is true that there are some among us who lack any kind of moral sense. They enjoy temporary pleasure at misusing the technology that has become too necessary to be discontinued. I totally believe in karma. After I have recovered from the damage done some heartless hacker, I will proceed with my life perhaps a bit more cautiously than before. but for the hacker once karma catches up with him will not be kind. He/she may never recover.

It's very scary what goes on today via technology.
My son's debit card was hacked 4 times last year. Just one more reason why I won't have one.
This is an eye opening write, I hope it alerts people.
Blessings...

You are so right here, people who learn about us and gather information can use it against us, find out our passwords and destroy us by taking our money and leaving us penniless, such is today's technology and deceitful news, a poignant write, love Dolly x
