Oh, dear LisaMay! This one tickles me to the bone. I love your take on life. Wonderfully creative write-up, as usual. I have been away for a while, and it is so nice to read your work again!

If people could just be kinder to one another how the world might be so different. Maybe she tripped because of your evil thoughts they took on a life of their own.

Hahaha! Thanks for this laugh. It's funny how we think of evil things we would never do. She got what she deserved. She was first in the shop, first to order, and first to have her meal gone. The poem at the end is a nice touch, and humorous as well.

You're funny. Had you given into those nice thoughts, I'd have disowned you as my friend.
Ah, karma - the best friend of the person in the right. I'm always happy to see a person who deserves it get their comeuppance.
I love the simultaneously literal and figurative meaning of the last line of the poem.

Thanks for your lovely review comments, Cindy! I was laughing on the inside when Karma tripped her up.

Lol! Wow, you do have some dark thoughts but you also made this a rather comical story. I like that you made this into a kind of haibun but I think it would work well as flash fiction, too!

I get sick of people's rude behaviour. I was laughing inside when she was punished. Mean of me, I know.
-
I wonder if it's because people are in their own world these days and don't know how to interact with real people?
-
think that is highly likely. Social skills need to be learned among other people, not in isolation.

I liked the poetic element of this haibun. It worked well. I was told the other day that fish and chips at our local chippie now costs £7.00 a portion. Ye gods!

Ye Gods is right - Neptune's revenge.
Is that pounds or Euros? I converted 7 pounds and it came out as about 13 New Zealand dollars. I got a large piece of fish, a scoop of chips, and a battered pineapple ring for NZ$7.50. Other places here in NZ will be similar to what you have to pay. I've lived in this suburb for nearly 40 years - it's lower socio-economic with lots of immigrants and students.
-
£7.00 GBP is correct. The cost of living has gone through the roof here thanks to Brexit, Covid and Putin apparently and you cant even run away because the flights are all cancelled.
-
Cost of living with other items sky high here too - we are a long way for supply chains to come.
Petrol is over $3.00 a litre.
Chicken is cheapest meat here. I saw in todays paper that our biggest chicken producer - Tegel - is raising prices, but I was delighted to read that the CEO's first name is Egbert!!
-
People tend to gravitate into jobs they were clearly destined to fulfil, egged on by friends and relations.

The poem at the end was clever and funny. I loved that she got what she deserved. While it may have not taught her a lesson, it gave you satisfaction. Some people act like they own the world, whether it is at a store or on the road.
We all think to ourselves, "if only." You happen to be able to witness karma.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thanks Mary. Maybe it was my thought projection that tripped her.... oh, the power of my mind!! The incident might have given her a learning moment, though probably not if she is such a pushy, selfish person.

I must admit I'm on your side, but I wonder if you'd have that if it would have made a difference, possibly, but it's almost like divine providence, but good onya anyway Jenny, excellent post, well done, blessings Roy

Love your story! Made me laugh out loud. She got what she deserved, in her haste and rudeness. I love how you sometimes have evil thoughts (don't we all?! Lol) but sometimes nice ones (not acted on. Don't we all do that too?!) Fresh and different. I hope your fish and chips tasted GOOD!

I was laughing on the inside when she tripped. The food was delicious, and the seagulls probably enjoyed hers too.
-
Lol. Still laughing. And she would have been too mortified to go back in and order another lot!!
-
Lucky she only ordered for herself. She would've had to go back in if it was a family meal.
