Ha ha...I just love this!
It's all so very true, but the
ending is just priceless!!
I remember an old episode of Andy Griffith, where
Barney tried to stretch himself!
A wonderful piece of delightful humor!!
Blessings...

I loved this so much, partly because it's written so well and partly because it's so true with me. It certainly made me smile. When you have to change from average slacks to short, you'll know you're in the old folks choir (with me)!

Verna, my sister went from average slacks to short , but what happened to me is I have Scoliosis - lost FOUR inches in my spine, so I wear the same pant length, but now I'm all legs, no body - rather stork-like :) slight exaggeration, but that's why the long tunics.
Anyway, many thanks for your very nice comments and thanks for reading!

I like the picture. Good choice!

I like the poem. It is straight forward showing how a body changes as one grows older.

Everything you said here hit on me. A job well done!

Thanks for sharing

"I write therefore I sits" is priceless! This is funny and factual and your rhymes are perfection! Congratulations on a terrific poem.

I'm also a knitter, so I really sit a lot, but I make a point of exercising every day. Swimming laps, yoga, running and weight lifting are all part of my weekly routine. Good for the body and unblocks the mind.

Thanks for the great read.

thank you, Pam. That is a wonderful critique and I really appreciate it.
You look young and healthy - of course you do, with your daily routine. That is terrific.
Thank you, also, for the lovely 6! I am honored.

This is such a terrific poem - I admire your poetic skill of rhyming and rhythm and also the introduction of humour to make it entertaining. The illustration is perfect.

I like this a lot since I understand of it. We shrink, we slump, we get old. Darn time passes too quickly. And exercise! Who wants to deal with exercise? Hanging by your feet actually does work, for a week or so. Thanks for a poem I could enjoy and not worry I couldn't understand.

and thank YOU for your lovely comments. I really appreciate them!
I guess you tried hanging upside down? brave gal.
reply by Carol Hillebrenner on 02-Jul-2022
Actually, a cousin wanted to be an LA policeman but was an inch too short. He hung for a couple of weeks and rushed in to be measured again and got to be a cop.

I'll be dern. Now that is amazing. I wonder if it lasted? :)
reply by Carol Hillebrenner on 02-Jul-2022
A week later he was an inch shorter but he made it and became a cop.
reply by the author on 03-Jul-2022
yes, I read that. just wondered how long the extra inch he got from hanging upside down lasted, since it wasn't his normal height.
reply by Carol Hillebrenner on 04-Jul-2022
About a week, but he had passed the test, so he didn't want to talk about it.

don't blame him. But great that he got the job.

Hello pome lover, your poem made me smile, mostly likely because I can relate. Your poem reads and flows well, and has good humor within. I especially liked:

You sit too long, and that's not good;
Get up and walk around."
However, then, I tend to snack,
I lose, both ways, I've found.

(Sounds like me. That's why I like to get lost in FS. Keeps me from snacking.)

Great photo choice. I love the coffe mug. Where would we be without it??? Good rhyming. A fun poem that made me laugh. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

thank you ma'am for all you said. I didn't enter it in the contest this time. I was fortunate to win the last one and decided to just have fun with this one. But I appreciate the good wishes, anyway :)

This is funny, yet true. My daughter comes and gets me to walk around the house. She worries about my sitting too long. Sometimes I feel terrible if I sit too long. I sure can feel the difference. These old bones are getting old. I like your picture. It goes great with the story. Thank you for sharing.

sounds like you do understand. what I do is when my sister from SC calls everyday, we talk a long time and I walk the house during our conversation - so she helps me exercise.
Thank you for reading and for your very nice comments.

Haha, PL. You did a great job. Your poem flows smoothly
with good rhymes and great imagery. I could see everything
as I read. Yes, there are two sides to this dilemma, but let
me sit and think a bit on that. Hanging upside down--no
thanks. Would someone be there to right you up? Could you
fall? Remember those desks that were all the rage? You had to
stand to type etc.--great. Your poem was fun to read and so true.
Thanks for sharing, Jan
