I agree, and a dog is like a child. Neglectful anything worries me. It says a lot about the person.

Sending you my best today as always, and blessings for your day,

Thank you Sally. I have tried to contact the parents - but nothing, no answer yet. We've made a temporary fix to the fence to block access, so we can have a safe back yard.

This is truly upsetting. I hate to think what could happen to these poor dogs, but it can't be any worse than what is already happening. Whatever happens now, you did the right thing and it is not your fault.

Thanks Jessi. I am still upset and don?t know what is best for the dogs. The owners have not returned my call yet. I appreciate your time and review.

What to do? What to do? My husband and I had friends who neglected their dog and the dog became mean and turned against them. They were afraid of the dog and had the authorities come and remove the dog. The dogs in your story could be very dangerous. The RSPCA should be notified, even though I understand your dilemma. This story requires follow-up.

Thank you. Super review. The owners haven?t come yet to talk about the fence. They?ll probably leave it till tomorrow. But I hate hearing the dogs crying for company and affection. It upsets me when I am out in the garden, and sometimes I go back inside I get so distressed at their distress.

They say the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, and it seems these dogs saw your yard as a much better place to live than theirs. Seriously, I am glad you and Sunny were safe inside. It is such a shame when people have pets but don't really care for them.

I would definitely report it, that was running through my mind as you were aging, dogs aren't just a convenience, a good idea, they are a lifetime commitment, they may still be fit to be someone's pet, but at least they've got one another. I'm so sorry Wendy, an untenable situation, the RSPCA would be familiar with these things, it would be best for all, well done, blessings Roy

This is an excellent piece that clearly relates your distress and the difficulty of the situation with the neighbor's dogs. I hope you can get the fence fixed soon so you lovely grandkids can come an play during their holidays....I always look forward to your stories of grand-kid care.

Thank you Kate. I appreciate your understanding review. We have made a temporary fix as we have a child here today. They will probably wait till Saturday to do anything. I?m not hopeful and expect they?ll want us to pay for a new fence panel. I?m more upset for their dogs than anything as they are uncared for, not shown any affection.

Your heart is definitely showing in your story of the neighbor dogs. I, too, love animals, but I would think a safe situation where they might be adopted? would be a happier situation for those animals that are not cared for. I wouldn't bet against your fence being fixed. Another question here: What happens with the running account of points of "My Profile" page?

Thank you Verna. I appreciate your thoughtful review. I think they want them as guard dogs - although our area is very safe. I think they would be very annoyed if I went to the authorities, but the parents haven't come over yet. I went to their place yesterday but I doubt they will even look at the fence till Saturday. We've pushed the fence back and put a steel plate on our side. Very temporary fix.
I think the points go towards your rank which you can see under "My status".

I completely understand. I am guessing these dogs have not been socialized and can be dangerous. It seems the owners keep them outside, so very little socialization even with them. I happen to be a huge fan of large breed dogs and have owned many, but they need to be loved and socialized just like the small dogs. Thank you for sharing.

Yes you are right. The owners pay them little to no attention except to sometimes yell at them for throwing themselves at the fence or crying. They just need some affection.
    Thanks for reviewing. Always appreciated.

'...I go in to my backyard...' Into in this sense is one word. Actually you are going out t get into your backyard but you would go in to get out of it!

And that is the last bit of humour applicable to this little story. Tales like this make me so glad to be a recluse and not have neighbours closer than half a mile. Be careful what you say or do. You could find yourself in a war.

Thanks for picking up my typo. I was quite flustered when I wrote it, but I still shouldn't have made that error. You are right re a war, and that's what concerns me. I don't like to be on bad terms with neighbours. It's ten hours now and they haven't come over. I will try again tomorrow to see them before I contact anyone. We have put up a secure steel panel as a temporary measure, so Sunny can go out if he needs to. Thanks so much for your review with its humour about the vagaries of the English language. It's like "Sit down!" "Good, now sit up!"

The Americans keep urging me to drop the 'down' in sit down but just 'Sit!' sounds as if one is talking to a dog.

I hope you get the problem sorted out without bloodshed.

I would not hesitate to call control. They could have a second and better chance at life. Are there "no kill" pounds down under? CHild protection doesn't seem out of the question either.

Thank you Tom. Good thinking. I will look up to see if that is a possibility. I think there is one about sixty kilometres away. This is now ten hours later and the parents have not come over to talk about it. I will try to see them tomorrow as well. We've put a steel panel in front of the fence and secured it with a steel stake, so they can't knock that down, a temporary fix though. Thank you for reviewing.
