This is an excellent sad tribute to wallflowers everywhere. Zinnia is fragile and like Elenore Rigby, she waits with a face in a jar by the door. I love your rhythm and rhyme combination. The flow and meter work well.
Lonely old maids wither just as a flower petal does. The beautiful picture is well suited for this poem.

This poem is so sad for both the woman and the townspeople. If she only came out or someone tried to get to come out maybe they could learn a lot about from each other. The loneliness of the single old lady could be lessened if fear could be fought off.
This poem is smoothly metered and well rhymed.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

It is sad isnt it? She just needs one brave person to reach out and break the ice. She probably has alot to offer.
-
It always takes just one person.

Yes, exactly. That's why every life is so important; you could be that person.

I had the work of writer Joyce Carol Oates in mind when I wrote this poem. She often writes about eccentric people.

Judith Ann,
Though I am an avid reader, I haven't read any of her books. Can you reccommend one for me.

The first novel I read by her is called " Them". After that I was a huge fan. It was a difficult read but soo good!

Thanks, Judith Ann. I'll try it.
