Your scratching the surface of a complicated subject here, in this essay on love. The Greeks had seven different words for it, and I think they were right and we were wrong. Often when people in the west talk about love, what they really mean is sex. But love itself is really a sacred thing, a sacrament to God. Love involves compassion for others, understanding, and the creation of new life. It is a big thing, containing everything else. estory

Hello, my friend. This piece is telling and genuine of what love not simply means to a couple but what love is supposed to be. You have conjured all the feelings here. I enjoyed this, Terry.

An interesting story. I completely agree with the statement...love is personal. I feel love is very special and to be cherished as you said. All the best to you in the contest.

I do love reading you, Terry.

Here's a thought.

Maybe love is an STD!

If that means:

S--spiritually
T--transformative
D--delight

!!!!!!

If this be the case may I be smitten and never recover!!!

(Pretty sure that's a quote from somewhere in Fiddler on the Roof--forgive my lack of formal citation)

Broken hearts hurt. Nor nearly as much as never allowing your heart to be vulnerable!

I need a cache of sixes just for you...

Please accept five and a sincere dose of respect!

Karenina

Karenian, thank you for reading, you have put a nice spin on STD part. This was just a little contest entry; it did tie for second. Terry.

Glad it was recognized! I've been off more than on of late and missed quite a few contest votes...

    Really enjoyed this!

I don't consider myself a very emotional person, but in some way, this writing struck a chord in my heartstrings. Obviously, I don't have any criticism for this, I think it's just as long as it needs to be, the diction is perfect, and it coveys its message perfectly. Thank you.

The ability to give and receive love is a gift from the one who loved us all. When we love we act like the one who loved completely. 1 John 4:8 reads: Whoever does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. So, apparently love is God's main attribute. Then, when we love we are like God. Powerful, is it not?

First of all, sorry about my last strange review, but I guess you always grab me and I get into your stories wholeheartedly! Ok, now this one was very informative for a girl who never had worse than a bladder infection in that area! So you are right, love is definitely not an std, nor is an std love. But from everything I know about you, is that you and Zoe had something remarkably and beautifully special. And that is one of the reasons I have fallen so incredibly head over heels for you as a very special friend. Some people can live with someone for twice as long as what the two of you had, and not have an iota of happiness that you gave to each other. You two were put on this earth to be together, so I guess there is no cure for that or the heartache that you still feel. Great story Terry and I am so glad that I had a chance to read it. And once again sorry about my last review as I have been in the hospital all weekend and not been myself.

There's also a song that says: 'Thank you for loving me; thank you for being so kind' (Jackie Trent & Tony Hatch)... which kinda fits you and your beloved.
Love is random. Some people spend their time dodging but it still hits them; some stand still hoping it will get them, but it takes another course. Love can kill or cure, but we are not in charge. Your brief story shows a sharp awareness of love's vagaries.

I love the idea of both parties knowing the other is loved
from the start, Terry. Your contest entry read well with
good information and supportive details from an interesting
POV. Yes, love isn't connected in any way to std.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan

This article, Is Love an STD?, speaks to that sense we have when love is a thing, for sure. Once life becomes "us", it is hard to imagine it not.
