well, we tied for second place. congratulations to you and to us, but when I first read Harry T's "My Country", I was so angry I could hardly see straight, and he won. That shows me - if you read his, how ill-informed they are - the damage done by the media, reporting untruths. Everything he said was false. It just makes me sick inside. That people really believe that garbage, is sickening.
Anyway, congrats!

Thank you and congratulations to you as well. I loved your poem, it was filled with the truth, something we don't see lately. I just can't understand why people still believe the sentiments expressed in Harry's poem...it's baffling! Thanks and I hope you have a wonderful evening. :)

I don't understand it either. And you, too.

It frightening to think this could be the beginning of the end. Depends on your faith and beliefs as to the second coming but I'll live that to the religionists. Meanwhile, the blessing of having agency may be a bane as new thoughts and idea muster favor for whatever reason... idk.

Yes, this is a scary world we live in, I'm especially worried because I have a beautiful new granddaughter and I want a better world for her. Thanks so much for reading my poem and for this thoughtful review. :)

Great rhyming and easy to read. I am Canadian, but what you have written can apply to our country as well as yours. I like the verse:
"The past wasn't perfect, we all know it's true
and perhaps I had rose-colored glasses in place.
But the world seemed a much better place in the past,
so much that was good, we have strived to erase."

Thank you for this. What a wonderful poem and questions we must ask. I am praying fervently for national repentance. Repentance clearly translated means: a change of mind and course. A "turn about" my grandparents used to say. America is far from what it once was. We must turn about now!

Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest,
Sal :))

Your poem is not a rant, but the best of social commentary. I truly think you describe the situation as it is. In fact, your last stanza could stand alone and your rhymes are never forced. Rod

I like the optimism that ends the mondorama. I guess we all function lately on the principles "all shall pass." Good luck with the contest and thank you for sharing.
