Your poem is very expressive of what is going on in the world. You are right about people who claim to be Christians being mislead and lured into promoting those who will destroy everything America stands for. Snake oil salesmen are everywhere. Everything is about greed.

Yes, it is heartbreaking to see someone you thought had a good heart, standing up and rooting for a toxic entity and doing so proudly.

How right you are, Nomi, there is more corruption in the higher ranks than in the lower. If Jesus was walking on Earth today and saw what was happening in the churches and governments, he would be appalled by what is going on. God's young children are being used and abused. What higher sin is there? Well done, my friend. Sandra xx

I love the internal rhymes on the third line of each tercet. And you did a great job of stating your case about false prophets seeking to take advantage of the weak and youth. I believe you when you say you are tired of fake religious promises when the culprits have their way with defenseless children.
Sexual misconduct is, running rampant, in our communities while religious leaders look the other way. I would tend to agree with you though I have no evidence to back us.
Thanks for this enlightening poem.
Jesse

Thank you Jesse. When something I post passes your in depth inspection, I breathe a sigh of relief. I appreciate your requirement and your courage to call me out on my failure to be consistent and correct.

Glad I could help, my friend!
This time, you were consistent, so it was a joy to read.
    Have a great day,

Thank you. The Bible says that when someone offers correction that makes you better, it is not hateful, it is helpful. Only a fool would resent that.

You're preaching to the converted here (pardon the pun) with regards to misuse of power, and religion is certain one of the ways it's most been misused. It seems, as soon as someone has influence over others, they use it in increasingly twisted ways.

Agreed. once that power is achieved, there is a huge effort launched to hold on to it with all of one's might and devising.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. When the last trump sounds, there will be longer queues at the gates of perdition than at the gates of paradise. Worst of all are the sins committed under the guise of Christianity.

Yes, but you see, that is the Devil's plan. If you corrupt religion, where is one to go, what is the need for restraint? If everyone is corrupt, why bother trying to be good? God becomes an angry old tyrant, punishing people for wanting to have a good time without having a guilty conscience.

Corruption is a fascinating subject both to study and write about. You obviously studied it before writing this fine poem. I particularly liked:
Politician's palms are greased, deceived voters are fleeced.
for the interesting rhyme within the line. It added to the aura of sleaze. Kate xx

I do think more and more have had their fill of the game...

The weak get weaker, those in power worship only their further need for more of the same.

I feel you.

I love it. You are very deep in your wisdom and understanding. Those who are not ready for you will do well to be afraid, be very afraid.
