Even though I don't like flamenco (I wonder if I should), your poem makes it sound really attractive. Your words are not only a poem, they are a painting, a real image of an actual dancer.
Anyway, I have always loved pop, Celtic and country music. A year ago, all of a sudden I became a heavy metal lover. Will tell you the story another day.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Heather. I hope you are doing well. I'm glad you liked the Spanish theme, because to me, flamenco dancing is a great example of it. I have been watching dancers on YouTube and they are awesome and so exotic. It inspired me. :). Thanks again.

I?m glad you are enjoying those videos. Have you ever heard of Lola Flores? She was extremely famous when I was little. Her two daughters are also very famous. My favorite was Antonio Flores, the son, who died of an overdose. He sang a mixture of flamenco and pop. But if you want pure, really temperamental flamenco, check out the mum.

I love this Quintilla! It rhymes well and boasts a lot of alliteration with Inflammable flamingo flair as three with the 'f' sound. It is fun to say aloud. The image of a flamingo dancer is in both the photo and the descriptive flair of this piece and I love flamingo dancing!
Thank you so much for teaching me that style of poetry, I must try it sometime.

Dancers are in wonderful shape!
To be a professional dancer...one needs to make lots of sacrifices! I'll bet it is worth it in the long run!
Have a great evening,
Jesse
Comment from Gloria ....
Oh what fun! I love dancing, although I would be hard pressed to dance the flamenco these days. Excellent use of strong verbs and nouns and a compelling allusion to the secret heart.
Just one thing I wonder about is the term monostitch, is that a new word or is the proper spelling monostich?
Much enjoyed this one. :))

Thank you Gloria. I hope you are doing well. I edited the notes to explain what Jim said about the monostitch... it seems that in foreign forms it can also mean a poem of one stanza... I'm glad you liked the Spanish theme, because to me, flamenco dancing is a great example of it. I have been watching dancers on YouTube and they are awesome and so exotic. It inspired me. :). Thanks again.

I read monostitch is a ONE line poem so I am confused who and what was taught. In any event I like the piece and your words fit the photograph Nice. Now for a few words to meet required 150

Thank you Tom. I hope you are doing well. I'm glad you liked the Spanish theme, because to me, flamenco dancing is a great example of it. About the monostitch... it seems in foreign forms, a poem of one stanza is also called a monostitch... go figure. Also, I have been watching dancers on YouTube and they are awesome and so exotic. It inspired me. :). Thanks again.

I like the alliteration of your poem. I can feel the rhythm of the dance, and the Spanish heat, as I read your words. A great picture to accompany your poem. Thanks for sharing the info. on the Quintilla form. Blessings. Carol

The author's words are lovely, interesting, fun, descriptive and creative.
My son and his wife are both musicians and my daughter-in-law is from Venezuela. I am sure she knows about Spanish Poetry. The poem is exciting and I wanted to hear music as I read it! Thank you for the author's notes - I liked hearing the history.

Magnificent picture. I remember taking a flamenco dance lesson, without much success. The instructor didn't give any more flamenco lessons. It is quite a dramatic dance, and as in the picture a cap adds to the effect. Your description of the hands in the air and the heels tapping gives us a great visual picture. You did a great job of getting in the rhyme. judi

Another gem from your treasure chest of writing classes! This one takes us onto the dance floor of the flamenco dancer. I have always admired their speed and agility. This format is one I'm not familiar with. Thanks for sharing.

You are definitely in a Spanish mood Melissa as you have found a new form to play with. I'm loving the alliteration in the first line, and the repeat of the "f" sound throughout, the tapping of this dance is frantic and inflammable Melissa, I love these displays and you brought the scene to life here, love Dolly x

Oh, I like it! You really captured the sounds, sights, and heat of the flamenco dance. Great use of alliteration and active participles to convey the movement! So glad you are sharing from your class!
