So simple, so sad and yet so lovely. This is an example of fitting the form to the emotion precisely and the result is excellent. You could not have expressed this better in any other form of similar length.

That recent pet contest has triggered emotional responses from those of us who invest so much in our 4-legged friends. Your dog's photo and your words have made me tear up and cuddle Lily even closer.
I was with our last dog when she was euthanized... a moment just as you have described so poignantly.

Yes that contest brought it all back. Look after precious Lily. I am really feeling for Tom right now. There?s no easy way and nothing anyone can do to help him through this time. I couldn?t go anywhere near the pet food aisles for ages. Thanks for reviewing. Greatly appreciated. Just seeing this photo where she looks so old and tired made my heart ache all over again.

It is certainly a hurting time for Tom.
When I was looking through photos of Lily to put with my post I came across some of my previous cat, Cubby, taken the day she was put to sleep. She was ready to go, so unwell, but trusting in my arms. I'm sure we bond with them more than we do with most humans.

You are right. Humans are often too busy to sense our needs and intuitively provide that unconditional support that animals do.

Toughest thing I have yet to do. Less than a week and it still brings me tears but ours has gone to wherever doggie heaven is but I ask once there will he get along being an alpha?

He will. He?ll be fine. Pain-free happy and fully free. Thinking of you at this difficult time.

You brought back some tearful memories with that Cinquain. The few situations when we had our dogs euthanized were extremely emotional. There is probably something wrong with me. I have shed more tears over the loss of my dogs than I have shed over the loss of some of my relatives.

Nothing wrong with you. I am the same. More tears for dogs than family members. (It doesn?t help that my family are all very distant physically and emotionally.) Pets meet a great emotional need for deep connection. I appreciate so much your kind words for my simple piece. It all came back when I wrote my story for the pets contest, just how precious she was.

Nice poem for the contest. How sad and sweet and poignant at the same time. The note below the picture really brought home the love you had for your dog. Well done.

Pity they don't live as long as us. I put Toby down in Feb. he was sixteen. I was overwhelmed with sadness until Benny came along and filled the hole. I guess Sunni did the same for you. K xx

Woof, woof I had a clip and look like a shining apricot greyhound! Slurp, Benny.

Lol. I?m glad you look so good Benny. I?m having a bath and groom next week. Love from Sunny.

Usually $50. He lives just around the corner so it?s very convenient too.

$65 for Fatty-fin. Takes over an hour, that includes nails and bath.
reply by the author on 25-Jun-2022
Mine does it for the love of dogs more than for the money. Sunny is his favourite. If Harry?s outside when we walk past he rushes back in to get a treat for S. If for any reason there is no treat S ignores him. Walks past with his nose in the air. Cracks me up!
reply by the author on 25-Jun-2022
Yes, that price included bath and nails too, for S.

The objective correlative of your work reminisces blessed assurance presumably said by God or the protagonist to someone or pet dear to him or her.

The work highlights coaxing dimensions of God or the protagonist as he or she reassured of consistent guidance and protection.

The work earns its texture through its strict Conquian structure.

Excellent work. Bravo.

Ah, you got me. Anything to do with our animal companions and how much we love them, and anything about easing their inevitable and awful suffering, will always work on me. Of course, you have to be such a good writer, too - which doesn't help me in this case!

Beautifully, affectingly written :-)

Mike

Elaine is always with them when they are euthanised, I don't like the idea, but she does, and really she's the brave one, perhaps I can't face the face end, but they are buried in my heart, beautifully written Wendy, blessings Roy
