This is a hilarious piece. I've been to some of those hairdressers. I never thought about the fact that they get paid for mistakes. When my younger sister was about five years old, she put chewing gum in her hair and couldn't get it out. I was seven, and used scissors and cut it out so out mother wouldn't know. Haha! I never cut hair again, until the pandemic when I cut my daughter's hair. She was pleased. Your stories are always so humanistic they remind me of things in my own life. I enjoy your writing.

Our hair is the one thing we can change about ourselves, over and over again. Somebody should be able to do it "right." And, no, not yourself!"))

Para 2, sentence 11: Change (paid,) to (paid;) "Both clauses can stand alone so a semi-colon is recommended." OR
Para 2, sentence 11: Change (mistakes. And) to (mistakes, and all)
Para 11, 1st sentence: (practising) should be (practicing)
Para 17, 1st sentence: (recognised) should be (recognized)
Para 22, 2nd sentence: Change (release,) to (release;) Same reasoning as stated in the first observation.
Para 23, 1st sentence: Change (hairdresser",) to (hairdresser,")

Fortunately, I have found a truly talented barber. I have been going to him for 50 years and he ever disappoints.

Nice rant. One I am sure is shared by many.

Thank you very much Gary for your thoughtful and careful reviewing. I use the spelling of my country, not American spelling, and sometimes our writing style is different too, I have noticed. Glad you enjoyed the rant, even if it doesn't apply. Lol.

Hahaha... I have cut my hair bands a few times.. it's not a good idea. LoL

Excellent entry for the Write A Rant contest.

Good rant story about women's independence and self love. It flows well with descriptive words that paint a clear mental

picture.

Good luck in the contest.

LOL, this is an excellent rant! Good luck in the contest and thank you for entering. I love the weatherman example. The hairdresser experiences are very funny, and even though am I a guy who is mostly bald, I do my own cutting! Outstanding job. Terry.

I have so much sympathy for your plight - my own experiences echo yours. I hate going to the hairdresser. You have written this so entertainingly, with a curt touch of anger and frustration.

I am still wearing my hair in a post-covid ponytail, with a ragged home-cut fringe, too scared to go see the hairdresser - yes, I am poor and stingy, but also I hate inane pointless conversation.

Hahaha, spot on: She goes home at the end of the day, satisfied with her income. I go home at the end of the day, dissatisfied with my outcome.

'some-one' and 'every-one' don't need to be hyphenated.

Thank you so much for your very understanding review! I hate the pointless, and sometimes intrusive conversation/questions too. And I don't see the point of paying an extra $30 for a style blow-dry which takes only ten more minutes .... Aah, I am going off on another rant. Sorry.
    Thank you again.

Excellent work. Good job.
I like how you get in your 'extra' rant.
I'm glad you didn't die from Covid. I could make a rant about people who ... well never mind. This is 'your' dime.
Best wishes.

LOL! This was a fun rant to read maybe because some of it hit close to home. I didn't cut my "fringe" as a child but I have had trouble finding a hairdresser. Now in fairness, I do have thick, course, wavy hair. We have moved several times and that is the biggest problem with the move is finding a hairdresser who can do my hair. You are so right, if they can take you right away, you don't want to go there. I did find an excellent stylist at our last location. She was amazing. Then we moved 350 miles away from her 3 years ago and I haven't found a good stylist i. Our new location yet. It's so bad, I talked my husband into driving the 350 back to the last town we lived in just so I could get a decent haircut.
Good rant about hairdressers is my vote. So sorry I'm out of sixes -

Thank you for being so kind!! I really appreciate your lovely review and I'm glad you enjoyed this piece - and yes it was meant to be humorous, although it is all factual, unfortunately. I am sure you are a brilliant stylist however, and would never say or do these things!

This is an excellent piece of work that flows really well, and is really funny. Sorry, I know you didn't want to be the butt of the joke. I laughed because nearly everyone including guys have had that feeling sometime. You should do really well in this contest.
