This is a wonderful tribute to your canine friends. You were certainly blessed to have Hone in your life and Sunny sounds like an awesome canine. And he can write (with your help)! The story is certainly well written and touching. Evi

Wendy, everything you wrote in this beautiful prose made my smile. We had made an effort to raise a equaling wonderful Lab ( Rae) to train as a therapy dog. My wife's passion to give back. But she had a hip replaced. Two years after the surgery she and Rae got tangles up and my wife fell and fracture her femur from fall that required replacing her new hip but also a plate in her wrist. We had to rehome

Oh no! So sorry for your wife and equally sorry for Rae. That must have been hard for her to understand. What an awful situation. Devastating. Is your wife okay now?thank you so much for your lovely review and six stars. It is an honour that I value enormously.

Thank you for asking, Bonnie has rehabbed quite well, with hours of PT and patience.

You were lucky to have had Honey in your life, and you continue to be lucky having Sunny. Dogs really are special, and their deaths can devastate us more than the deaths of our human family members. Best wishes to you.

This was such a sweet story about two great friends. You were able to communicate your depth of love for them and their depth of love and devotion for you. The story flowed with words easy to follow and feel. I'm happy you had the opportunity to have two such great loves in your life. I have a German Shepard so I can easily identify with your story.

Thank you Sandra for reviewing. I am wondering about suggestions for improvement in order to make it worth five stars instead of four.

What a wonderful story, Wendy, and beautifully written. I found the part about Sunny bringing you joy again after losing Honey very much like my relationship with Cleo, my cat since April. I lost my Prissy in January, and I was beyond consoling, but Cleo brought new happiness with her with her sensitive and playful nature.
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for your very understanding review. Most people without pets have little understanding of the depth of a relationship with a pet. I'm glad you have Cleo now.

This is a great entry for the contest. You have done a great job of describing these two dogs that you loved. So good that when you had to let go of Honey, that Sunny came along to fill the gap.

I love this post!
As a dog owner, her name is Sienna, she's a beautiful blonde lab, and a dog lover, this story warmed my heart. You definitely took me on a rollercoaster ride but boy did it end up well. I appreciate the wildly entertaining antic descriptions you peppered throughout the story. Sienna is my support animal and I couldn't breathe without her. So I completely understand the unbreakable, and unconditional bond between pets and owners. I can't imagine what it feels like to lose your pet but what a blessing that Sunny found you or you him. Terrific write! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much! I love your review. You understand perfectly. Sienna is invaluable in your life. I hope she will have many more happy years looking after you, and you both enjoying your life together. There was a restriction to 500 words, but there was so much more to be written about each of these and it was hard to know what special abilities and antics to leave out. Dogs are just as precious and loved as humans!

We have owned four dogs in all, all different, all had similar backgrounds, three were strays God brought our way, all have a special place in our hearts. (As do the cats) the last one Buddy, was particularly special, we are currently dog-sitting a Moodle, a cross between a Maltese terrier and a poodle, not sure how long we've got him, his mother lives in a caravan park with her dad, (they don't allow pets) but Lucky adores our two grands, yes, labradors are the most gorgeous dogs, and of course Sunny, blessings Roy

Thank you for sharing these two special dogs in this contest entry. I often wonder about dogs. I wish people could be as loving and accepting as dogs. The world would be a better place. I enjoyed reading and wish you luck.

Thank you Barbara for your lovely review (I agree: if people acted more like dogs the world would be better?!) thanks too for your good wishes.
