Thanks Dolly. Temperatures here in summer can reach the high forties, and the farm dogs still do their work in such heat! They are amazing, and so filled with a sense of responsibility for their sheep or cattle.

Nothing says hot and tired like a sleeping dog. They always seem to know where to find the best shady spot too. I like your contradicting statement "dusty tree." One might think it's cooler under there but with the heat it still seems dusty.

Dogs on a farm are very active but you can see they love doing what they do.
I used to trim my dog s fur in Summer to help her cope with the heat.

Poor dog looks a bit tuckered out in the heat - this has got an Aussie feel to it. Yes they have hard work to do in tough conditions, but as you say they are highly respected workers.

I see lawn care workers, roofers, builders resting in hot shade and I feel for them. I've never thought about all the "working animals" out there.

The author's words are descriptive, interesting and creative. I thought about the life of these dogs and how hard they work. The dog looks perfectly content resting in the hot shade!
