Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I sometimes struggle with memory, also. I hate when I can't remember something I know I know. I think we all do that. I enjoyed reading.

Hey SANKU! Memories are fickle things, as you said. I still have mine for the most part and I hope I always will, God willing!
Thanks for sharing!

This is a very well written poem you have penned about memory. The older we get sometimes we think of things we don't really want to. I just know the devil likes to keep our mind messed up with bad thoughts so I try to keep my mind on Jesus as He is our only hope! Thanks for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

It is amazing how our memory eludes us when we need it, yet it delights in bringing up things best left forgotten. Thank you for sharing your memory poem, and best wishes to you.

An interesting poem and well-written. I am probably at the age you mentioned, but somehow mine still works. I really liked that you think memory is a "she" and she can lead a parade, even if you don't want her to. Well done. Terry

I can relate one hundred percent! Memories you thought were gone pop up out of nowhere, and memories you are trying to find disappear or get smudgy. I enjoyed your poem. Good job!

The faded clock and blurred images work well with the subject. The topic is universal and mostly a problem for aging. The word 'up' appears three times within the first two stanzas. Perhaps a replacement word could be used to reduce, in one or more instances, to give variety and reduce repetition.

Sanku: I love the way you write about Memory, as a person separate from ourselves yet a part of ourselves. Memory is tricky. I'm almost 74 years of age and I still remember much of my life, but not recent life. Out of nowhere an old memory will pop up in my mind. Sometimes I like visiting that moment and sometimes I don't want to remember it. But, memory usually rules, has a mind of its own and shows us who is boss! LOL. This poem is powerful, catches the reader and doesn't let go even when one has completed reading it. It is 6 star worthy but I'm out of them. Linda

Thank you very much also for saying this is six star worthy. Memory does have us in her grip.

This is a lovely free-verse poem. I have many memories, such as you describe, those that refuse to come out and be seen, and those that are vivid which I wish to forget, and still yet some wonderful ones that warm me through and through! I see on your profile you're an English teacher with two children. I was once also - only mine were a son and a daughter and I was so blessed to have them!
