I keep reading this poem, leaving it, and coming back to it. I'm not sure I "GET" it. I think it expresses the thoughts of one who longs to move from
shadows, sorrow, and self-doubt--to light and self-acceptance, a better view in the "mirror."

I feel your heartfelt words... and they absorb into my soul.
It actual makes me feel an emptiness and sorrow in my heart.
Just a suggestion:
The way you have two of your lines separated, leaves for a fractured read and doesn't really allow the full impact of your words and particularly those lines to shine as they should.
eg:
As I draw my sorrows on a candle
Let the light heal my soul,
shining again out of the mirror.
All the very best in this contest Iza.
With our thoughts we create...
heartfelt emotions.

This is a small but huge poem. There is alot of power in your few short words and minimal lines. It is really captivating.
This poem shows us that we can express feeling and emotion in few choice words.

The author's words are sad, clear, interesting, descriptive and creative. As I pondered on these words I thought of the last line and when my day is blue how somehow the light begins to shine again. I like the blue back-ground color the author chose - it goes with the mood of these words.

I remember this moment as I have lost a child in the second trimester. I fell on ice. I had a blue mood for months with a sea of tears. Beautifully penned in tender reflections, dear Iza. A virtual six and well wishes for the blue ribbon.

I like how you express yourself, Iza. It's a comfort that we can pour out in words when our "souls are bleeding." But healing with come with prayer which is what I think the candle symbolizes in your poem.

In a sense a mirror is not the source of light, but human beings likewise can seen that way, reflecting the light of of God, and the moon reflecting the light of the sun, blessings Roy
