This is really funny although I'm sure everyone in the group was in bad mood. I loved it and I don't care if doesn't pay. The funniest thing was that you father drove away with the sound box. It reminds me of the time I drove home with the money and check container from the bank. At least I didn't break anything but they didn't have another and they were my phone by the time I got home demanded I bring it back.

That?s very funny too! Thanks so much for reviewing. I?m glad you enjoyed it. Probably better to go to the drive in with a date than with a whole family! Lol.

I should show this to my three adult children for they often, when we are all together, talk about this, and the problem of not being able to see the movie. Great memories and congrats on the contest win Wendy.
cheers,
valda

Good old drive-ins. I used to love 'em.

Para 10, 1st sentence: "organised" should be "organized" unless it is UK
Para 10, 1st sentence: add comma after "organised"
Para 11, 1st sentence: "signalled" should be "signaled"
Para 12, 2nd sentence: Add comma after "last"

Brought back many a fond memory.

Very nice.

Thanks so much, Gary, for your review and suggestions. Appreciated. However,
I use Australian spelling, which in most cases follows the British, so there are cultural differences here to be accepted. I?m glad the story brought back memories for you.

Yeah, I'm still getting acclimated to the UK / Ausy style of writing. I thought I had it all down. But I keep learning. Thanks for the help.

Poor father, he must have the patience of a saint for that evening, and yup siblings rivalry is not a strange thing to any of us:) Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

This was written very well as a childhood memory. I don't have any memories like that as my parents did not believe in going to movies in any fashion. I do remember that my big brother and little brother seemed to be honored for their positions more than my sister and I were in the middle. When I was about 12, a large family we knew lived next door to the drive-in theatre, and I thought they were so lucky. Now I can imagine the noise and traffic would have been a nuisance - to the parents. Good luck in the contest.

Wendy, LOL, what a hoot! My parents only had to keep up with two boys, so it was not the problem your dad faced. This is very well-written. The topper of course was driving off with the speaker. Priceless! Terry.

This story, Never Again, sends all of us who remember back to that cramped and chaotic car at the drive-in movies. So many good times as a kid, hot times as a teen, and somehow missed now, despite its glaring problems. Neat piece of nostalgia.

Thank you Bill! Yes. Drive-ins remind us of all those different times. Probably none are around any more. Thanks for reviewing. Always appreciated.

Thanks for sharing this story of a family outing to the drive-in. Lots fun in the way you've written about sibling squabbles. I'm staring to feel like I know your family. Was Geoff treated special because he was the oldest, or maybe because he's a boy??? Just wondering as it would be common during this era.

I think he was treated that way to keep him away from teasing and annoying his pesky little sisters! Lol. Thanks so much for reviewing. Always glad to get your reviews.

Wendy, what a delightful response to the writing response. You always paint vivid pictures in your stories. This one resonated with our family's own experiences at the drive-in movies. So well done, as usual.

Lol! Oh dear - about the speaker cord breaking ! But I can understand how distracted your father was with five busy children in the back. And how mean of Geoffrey to hog the front seat and make you carry the hot fries to the car. I had only one very much younger brother so we never had those normal sibling tousles. Enjoyed this memory and hope you do well in the contest!
