So very nostalgic to me. I
remember that saying back
in the day. One of my friends
substituted the word, " lamp post," instead of, "gate post,"
because of all the tall black
lamp posts we had in our
neighborhood. Your poem
is lovely, especially with
sharing secrets with friends.

I remember this old saying - haven't heard it for years. I suppose so many people live in apartments these days, not like when we had time for a neighbourly chat sharing confidences by the gatepost.
I spotted a couple of corrections you could make:
The eyelid closed; to wink.
(a comma would be sufficient rather than a semicolon)
All these gestures~ facial signs
(add a space in front of the squiggly dash)
The common ,binding link
(remove space in front of comma; add a space after comma)
A friendly ear~a kindly tongue
(I think a comma would be better than a squiggly dash)
And the ever silent gatepost.
(the rhythm gets a bit lost in this last line)
