I loved the Catfishing and Paying your way stories. Catfishing made me laugh out loud. That was a great line when... "I asked Carl, "What can I do to help?"
"Go up to that convenience store at the end of the pier and see if you can get some bleach, aspirin, and Band-Aids."
"Carl, really?"
"Terry, they didn't teach this in medical school. It never came up in the Navy. I have already tried the slime."
It tickled my Funny-Bone Terry. Nancy:)

I enjoyed your tales of family get-togethers. It sounds like it could have been a great deal of fun, though not all must have seemed that way at the time. Thanks for sharing!

Terry,
I loved this one. So many astute observations hidden within the contests. I've only been to one real family reunion and it was nothing like yours. It was held in the country, up on a hill at my grandmother's old farm, and there ere more cookies and lemonade than spirits. I've never had tight-knit family on either side. Great story. BTW, did I remember to congratulate you on your second place finish in the Story of the Month? If not, Congrats!

Jim, was Zoe's oldest nephew. -- comma not needed

Dang, Sue, I am honored by the super sixer!!! Zoe does have a fun family, unfortunately, the numbers are dwindling and without her, I don't see them.
Thanks for the shout-out on the second, that is my third time behind Lee, but he is so good that I am just glad to be on the same page as him. Terry

You are welcome. Lee is really has superlative writing skills. He really needs to publish a book of his short stories.

Now this is a family I feel I belong in. I know that biologically I am not a fit, but psychologically I am, or should be a bonafide and approved member. You guys are a fun bunch who may have cornered the market on fun family outings and celebrations.

You would be welcome, it was a good time for all. Thank you for reading. Terry.

Thank you. My own family have held reunions consecutively since 1912. The last two were virtual, but held just the same. I believe there is only one other family in the US with a longer record.
-
Wow, that is a story! Maybe you should write it. Terry.
Comment from Jesse James Doty
These humorous stories were low-key and brought out a smile rather than a laugh. But I guess that is what you were going for. At least they didn't bring out a groan!
family reunions are difficult at best. I haven't been to one in many years.
Thanks for sharing and brightening up my morning.

I enjoyed your fun recollection about your family reunions,
Terry. It sounded like everyone in attendance always had a
great time. I loved the story about the quarter for every beer.
The catfish one sounded awful, but in the end all' well with a
little help from my friends.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Those were the funniest vignettes ever! I especially Jim and his food stamps! I didn't know that about catfish, I'll make sure any that we buy for dinner already has them removed before we clean them. This was such fun to read, Terry, I really enjoyed it. :)) Sandra xx

Tom, thanks for reading. Carl was the doctor and flight surgeon. Yes, Jim did try the food stamp thing. It was ballsy. I was a non-profit manager and businessman. Terry.

My last six star must go to you. This was a great read and a fun way to begin my day. I love first that the font is large and easy to read. I love how you have divided your story into vignettes. The titles for the vignettes are funny too. Each vignette is funny as heck. They are written with precise details that pulls the reader into the scenes. This is just great writing. I can understand why you are a top ranked author. The honor is deserved.

The objective correlative of your work reminisces how the protagonist's marriage to Zoe eventually metamorphosed into a recurring beach reunion of brothers sisters, in-laws, cousins and friends.
The work highlights the semblance of a "contest" characterized by eating and drinking; a corollary to the drinking contest, which was more of an entrepreneurial training session; a cat fishing outing, where Carl got stabbed by a catfish; and Jim's bid to offset some of the bills, which was thwarted by reluctance of the beach management to accept food stamps from Arizona as legal tender.
The work earns its texture through its effective use of anecdotes synonymous with how the sustained subscription of an event could eventually turn it into a tourist attraction.
Excellent work. Bravo.
