Such a great story, you might as well call it a party than a reunion from that amount of activities you do. Picture fits well showing the amount of people there. Great job and keep up making awesome stories. -GTG345

Thank you very much for the kind review! Terry.

Drinking was limited to . . . LOL, doesn't sound like there were any limits at all!
My favorite story was that of Larry - now there was a smart kid:-)
I remember many such family gatherings at a lake house in Michigan when I was a teenager. It was great fun and I can still smell the Coppertone we girls slathered on before sunning on the pier all day.
Very well told in a humorous way. I think using the vignettes as separate, but connected, stories worked well here.

Doesn't that make the best reunion? Eating and drinking? LOL. Sounds like a grand party. I don't know if I would call that "drinking" limited or not LOL
A couple of suggestions:
Para 2, 6th sentence: Remove one space between "laws," and "cousins"
Para 7, 3rd sentence: Remove comma after "And"
Para 13, 3rd sentence: Add comma after "all"
Sounds like Larry had the beginnings of a flourishing business. Especially if he had a lot of customers like "Grandpa." This is a very interesting family. Food Stamps?
Good job

Gary, thank you very much for the six stars!!! I also appreciate the edits, I will take a look at those.
One more thing, I have written a story that I will post sometime next week where I make reference to you and a post you made about childraising. It is a very positive reference, but I will send you a message when that gets posted so you will know about it. Terry.

I loved these vignettes! Sounds nothing like my family, as they don't drink and they don't fish. However, I've been a guest at parties like that! The story is well told and grabs attention. I would keep reading if there were more!

Sam, thank you very much, I couldn't write too much more. I had to protect the innocent! Terry.

This is part hysterical and part alarming, especially the first aid and wound care which I take very seriously. I glad you survived and lived to tell, as the adage goes. I suspect we share some distant relatives....
Sending you my best today as always,

Sally, LOL, thank you for the review, there was a doctor in the house, and he did survive. Terry.

The ending was hilarious that was the last thing I expected, the way you described everything made you feel as if you were a bystander especially Larry you could get the perfect picture of him and his grandfather.
Loved it

Interesting vignettes, I especially liked Larry bringing his grandpa Charlie beer until the poor old man was drunk, paying him for each one brought. I wish my grandpa did that. Pretty good overall, makes me wish to see my extended family and eating and drinking with them

You had a good life with your friends and family. It has given you a lot of interesting and amusing stories to tell. You (and I since I so enjoy your stories) are fortunate that your memory is so good. Have a blessed summer.

Hi Terry, your family sounds a lot like my own family.
PAYING YOUR OWN WAY: I guess your Jim was like our Larry, except your Jim was working his way through college. So, he gets a pass. Our Larry would arrive for an event usually late or with some other commotion going on around him. He would either bring many extra people with him to guarantee a ride home in their car, or he would have no way or money to get back home, and you would basically have to give him money to get a train or a bus, etc. or you would have to house him for a few days until his pay hit his account. Our Larry was a grown man with bad hygiene, so you really didn't want him hanging around the house for a couple of days. I could go on forever about Our Larry, but I think you got the gist.
DRINKING CONTESTS ... we didn't have real drinking contests. People just drank and drank and drank so more until passing out or not remembering the next day. My Mom use to have my niece/her granddaughter get her medicine which was her bottle of Canadian Club which she kept in the bottom of the china closet.
ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING--My younger brother and I used to return all the beer and soda bottles to the store and clean-up with some good cash. We were two happy kids.
Terry, life wasn't perfect or always pretty, but with all it flaws, it was a damn better life than the life we see today. The important thing was that people cared about each other and loved their fellow man ... even Our Larry.
Thanks for writing this and jogging some of my memories, and "welcome to the family." Big-teeth smile. LateBloomer

Ha! The family reunion. Your reunions sound a heap better than mine, Terry. I love the doctor and the catfish paragraph. Writing this must have brought back some great memories and some sobering ones. Best, JohnC
