Gnomes? Way to go, you made me laugh a little:) "He didn't even glance my way, eyes roving the sights around him. "Dirt's teeth, what did you do to them?"
"Us? Nothing. But the Bass boys certainly disappointed somebody."
He lifted one boot and grimaced at the goo stuck to it. "I don't even know what this is."
I listened to the angry chanting outside for a moment. "Whatever else it might be," I said, finally catching his gaze. "It feels a little bit like justice."
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

I think if I was on the mission they were, the thing I'd be most frightened of would be the magic, an enemy that one can see, is better than the mystery that confronts one when there is something mystical is at work, the.quest continues. Well done .Mike, good scribing, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy :-). Yes, it's an intimidating thought, isn't it? Something unpredictable and unseen...

I'm going to hate to see this story end. I hope you do a sequel. I like these characters. I did notice a few 'looked'. I've been told to use a different word, maybe studied, or in one area scanned. Just a thought.
I turned to look down at the gnome who'd materialised in the room, (you can omit 'down', it's an extra word)

Thank you, Barbara :-). I'm always on the lookout for repeating words - so much easier to spot when reading someone else's work! I appreciate your eye.

Only one more? I'm really into this story, and hoped it would be a nice long one. I hope there is part two??
The images you threw at us were pretty revolting, and just before my dinner! I do like these characters, especially Terrence. I hope they get the murderers and do something grisly with them! Pay back time! This was great, I loved it all, the inside out bodies as well!! Lol. Well done, can't wait to read the next one, just wished it wasn't the last one. :)) Sandra xx

Thanks so much, Sandra :-). Don't worry, there's more. This is technically part 2, so I'll post part 1 next, and part 3 is underway. I see them as linked novellas, each about 15-20 thousand words. There's a 'job' in each, and of course an overall plot because I'm annoying like that, lol. I'm so happy you've been enjoying it.

I'm glad about that! You've got some fabulous characters in your story, each are a star in their own right. I'll be watching for the last one - or not if there's more! xx
