In America, it's amazing how many towns were named after English, or European (and elsewhere) cities. Some adorned with 'new', most not. Here in Arkansas, we have Dover, Caledonia, Paris, Moscow, Barcelona, Brittain, Cairo, London, Egypt, Scotland, Manila, and dozens, if not hundreds more.
Best wishes.

I know, I find it very confusing. Maybe you should chip in with a contribution on that aspect of things? I'm sure you could make it amusing - just the relative ages of the homonyms in question always makes me smile. Thanks for reviewing. Kate xx

I love names like Upper and Lower Slaughter, which apparently is adapted from Slough or bog, we came across a signpost to South Piddle in the south of England but didn't have time to visit, when in Germany there were many Becks, (my elder child's name) a German name, (my wife speaks German) beautifully written Kate, love the name of the Wicks, didn't know that, well done, blessings Roy

I will try and find an upper and a lower, where the lower is higher up the hill... I just wanted to post today to keep the ball rolling as it were. I can always revise... Thanks for reviewing. Blessings Kate xx
