Hi, Rod, and congratulations on finishing up there in the money. My apologies for not getting to your post sooner. It was a great tribute to the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy, bringing end to war. The artwork shows the energy and courage they put into their effort. They didn't hold back. judi

You nailed it, Judi. These men did NOT hold back despite the tremendous number of casualties. Few historical events stir me as much as this one does. Many thanks for sharing and praising my shortie. Rod

This is the most meaningful one I have read so far of these short poems with an imposed full line-end rhyme. Furthermore, the rhyme doesn't seem forced. Kate xx

Excellent entry for the 1-6-1 contest writing prompt contest. Good syllables count and connection between lines. Good rhymes too. The subject of war is a good choice.

Also, great presentation and imagery. It flows well with descriptive words that paint a clear vision..

Good luck in the contest.

Your selection for a three line poem, is a good one. We all should always remember the lives that were sacrificed to protect our freedoms. Thank you for sharing

78 years later many young people have no idea how important this landing was. I am so pleased you think my message comes through, Pam. Many thanks for sharing.

You are very welcome, and I appreciate your reply. I don't know what the answer is in getting young people to understand. It has a lot to do with their age, with what is taught in school, and what the home environment is.

This is an excellent 1-6-1 poem for the contest
with a theme that is topical and many we relate to.
The three rhymes are very good.
Nicely done.
Best wishes.

Free!" and now we are back to square one trying to extinguish fires... Ukraine, Syria, Iran, etc. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings and the contest.

Iza, thank you for sharing my poem. Indeed, 78 years later we do appear to be back at square one "trying to extinguish fires."

You did a great job with the syllable count and rhyme scheme. You also managed to tell a story in just 8 syllables, which is impressive. The picture you selected worked perfectly with your poem. Thanks for sharing.
