I agree with everything you wrote. What is wrong with these
people? They are cowards who know how to use the system,
and unfortunately some get away with it. It's amazing, this
scum was able to function for two years without any of those
mental issues interfering as fat as I know--how convenient. Now,
once caught, I (he) will put on my act and get a lesser sentence.
The young 14 year-old girl is scarred for life. She is the true
victim, not the scum who . . . .Bravo to her for testifying.
Respectfully, Jan

Know you said not to worry about replying to your reviews. Afraid that is not my style. Glad you enjoyed this posting. Appreciate the review.

Well written. Good work.
I wonder how many of those 'defenses (read excuses) are the product of an imaginative lawyer. It seems that some are more interested in their success rate and their income than merely seeing to it that their client is offered due process.
Best wishes.

Makes one wonder does it not? Appreciate the review.

We are sadly living in a world without boundaries. People are going to do whatever suits them at the time and they don't give a darn who it effects or hurts. It's scary, even to those like me who have never been afraid of anything. Thanks for sharing.

AMEN!!! I agree completely. I don't understand how our most prized positions, our children, can be treated so poorly. I hate reading about any way children are harmed, and especially sexual abuse. How horrible.

It's not funny how many criminals are hiding behind the mask of clouded judgement or mental health, but what the victim had to say about this? Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

This is well written and I'm sure there are many who share your opinion. I don't know if anyone can truly understand what motivates these horrible acts. I would think they would hate their own selves for not controlling their impulses. I agree if these kind of people have no chance of ever being rehabilitated, then they should be castrated. No child should have to become a victim, but I think it may be more common than any of wants to believe. I've met too many who were abused in this way as children.

This piece was clearly written when the writer was 'feeling' a good deal of anger about the topic. Given the material, anyone would undoubtedly feel the same in initially writing about it.
However, writing about this sort of thing is for the 'reader,' not for the writer. The writer must put together the material in descriptive ways that will 'make' the reader 'feel' the same things. In a nutshell, writing is about the reader and not the writer.
One of the problems with the writer writing for the writer, is that to a large degree the writing comes off as stream of consciousness--it bounces from issue to issue as things pop into the writer's mind. The reader may have trouble following a direct line of reasoning, or will simply give up on it.
I too have been in the same situation many times when I write something I'm passionate about. I have to keep reminding myself that it's not about me--it's all about the reader; it is at that point that the piece I'm working on goes through a significant number of edits to get it to where the reader can see and feel the same things.

Whatever, obviously you completely missed what this entire piece is about. Keep reading. Perhaps one day you will get there and not have to ramble pointlessly to gain Funny Money. Spend it wisely.

You have done a good job of discussing a hot button issue. I totally agree with castration for sex crimes. A local pervert so sexually assaulted a child under eight that he/she is permanently disfigured. I'd rather see him burn even if they decide he is mentally ill. He could be released on society otherwise.

You raised some interesting points. I personally agree with you that castration, chemical or otherwise, should be considered. Thanks for sharing this informative piece here.

I abhor the abuse of children, to me it is the worst, and most hideous crime one can commit and inflict on another, and the sentence needs to inflicted on them to at least keep them from doing, or having opportunity to inflict this abjectly hideous crime on any child again. But as to what that punishment was, I wouldn't judge, because anger makes me biased, beautifully written Brett, blessings Roy
