AS many adventures as Wendy has seen, a book of events could easily be... entertaining. If life is to be lived, and it is, then yours should be reveled in for sure.

Ah Tom, but in between, there's been lots of boring bits. I'm remembering these events now because of the prompts on here. It's mentally stimulating for me. Thanks so much for reviewing. I do appreciate every review you give, and your time too.

This is such a chilling tale and no small wonder that you were not permitted your freedom ever again. there is a medieval tale of a boy in Lincoln being abducted. His name was Hugh and his body was eventually found on the town midden. The local Jews were blamed and one Coppin was cruelly punished but there was no real evidence against him.

This sort of thing is not confined to the modern era it seems.

The child was canonised as The Little St Hugh as distinct from St Hugh Grosseteste a bishop of Lincoln in medieval times.

Yes, I am sure this sort of thing has been happening throughout history, sadly. Thanks so much for reviewing. I always appreciate it.

Yes, of course we live in SA, we've had some terrible crimes here, the bodies in the barrels, the tragic disappearance of Kirsty Gordon and Joanne Ratcliffe at the Adelaide oval, as well as the Beaumont kids, I wouldn't like to have been those poor parents, a lifelong nightmare, shocking! Beautifully written Wendy, blessings Roy

Yes. There have been a number of horror crimes in SA. I can?t imagine the horror of what those parents went through. Thanks so much for reviewing. I appreciate it.

You've told this story in a really gripping manner, making it personal to your own family then bringing in the awful situation with the Beaumont children. It's a very sad cautionary tale, a point in history where a cruel event impacted so many habits of childhood freedom.
Those poor parents, just never knowing, no closure.

I think I remember this. I would've been 12 in early 1966. We neighbourhood kids used to ride our bikes for miles and have picnics by the river. I remember being peeved when we were told that wouldn't be happening any more.

When I met my half-sisters in 1998 they joked about being the missing Beaumont girls - that is their family surname.

Query: (The website I looked at had the girl's name as Arnna - double 'n')

Thank you so much. Super review. I?m surprised your half sisters would joke about it though. Yes. You are right about the little girl?s name. Thank you. Good pickup.

My half-sisters indulge in black humour - also, it was more than 30 years after the event. I guess they got teased about being called Beaumont.

I think it is sad, but also seemingly inevitable, that we've come to a place where adults engaging with children is automatically suspicious, and outright taboo if they're not already known to one another. I like your structure, taking it from a personal story to a news story and then to a conclusion. It's like an essay format but from a very personal perspective. No nits or notes. Great writing.

Mike
