Wendy,
This is a witty short story. I like the twist at the end. It descrbes both characters well, the star football player and the pig. Is the pig the school's or team's mascot?
congrats on placing second in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Hi Joan, thank you for reviewing. No the pig was a runaway, and miles away from his home. They had to stop the game to try and catch him. Even after they did catch him (which took quite a while) he escaped again! It was very funny.
Google "runaway pig at Redcliffe football match". It?s quite funny to watch. Thanks also for your congrats.

This brought back memories of when someone let a pig onto the field at an AFL game. Or was this story based on that? Congrats on placing in the contest. I wasn't so lucky.

It did happen, fairly recently, but it was a runaway pig, many miles from his home, not let out on purpose. Thanks so much for reviewing and for your congratulations. Both are appreciated.

This is fun and perfectly done. Love the use of the words "hamming it up" especially after realizing you are talking about a pig. Your sense of humor shines.

This was a twist. It had me going, thinking the kid was going for a touchdown. You have a great imagination. You had me seeing the pig running as fast as possible to keep from being slaughtered. And I can not blame him. Thank you for sharing this humorous post.

Thank you. A great review. Poor pig - he was a long way from home too. Held up the game for quite some time! Lol.

Very cute, Wendy! An excellent entry for the Dribble Flash Fiction contest, and I wish you much luck!
As I read along, I pictured a fullback. But when I finished, I wondered if it was an actual slippery pig running around or a muddy football (pigskin). My guess is a real pig. If they could hang onto a football, they would be stars making a lot more than the price of bacon!
Nicely penned... or not!

Yes, it was an actual runaway pig and nobody could catch it so they could get back to their game! Lol. Thanks so much for reviewing! Always appreciated.

This dribble, How to be Famous, has the proper word count and features a new star on the footballer front who while "hamming it up" manages to news not related to crazed fans. Fun.

What a great story and how well you wrote it so that we were in complete suspense until the end, thinking you were talking about a boy. Very well done on this one, Wendy.

You started my morning with a smile with your flash fiction. This was one surprise ending that really got me! I hope others enjoy it as much as I did, and it takes first place in the contest.

Hamming it up, bulky build, hamming it up - very clever poem about our favorite slice of breakfast meat.

This must have been a fun one to write. Good luck with this contest.
