This is a fun story told by Sam the dog. Sam has an easy way about him and decided right when approaching a jackrabbit near the end of a walk. I enjoyed this tale very much. A little humorous story is a good way to start the day.
An excellent pen choosing to write with the dog as the author was an ingenious idea.

I spent nearly two years in the Grand Forks North Dakota area back in the early 60s and the area was overrun with Jack Rabbits. It was not uncommon, in fact it was very common for the road to sometimes be littered with dead Jack rabbits run over by speeding card on the highway. The mention of them reminded me of then for the first time since 1964. Imagine that. I found your story quite entertaining. Good write.

The only thing that could make it even better would be an actual picture of Diane and Sam. It would be easier for me to picture his indecision while staring at the jackrabbit.
