What a tragic loss, Gypsy. So many people, now gone but definitely remembered. I enjoyed your words because even the wind was silent. Blessed be n hugs!

Another fine poem, Gypsy....a sad day indeed, but it was estimated that their could be a million casualties in an invasion of Japan, so, impossible choice

I like the poem- it has a good presentation- has depth - using time and nature as metaphors to show reverence for a tragic historical event- very good job---

Such a tragic time in history...
Prince's song "When Doves Cry" comes to mind...
Not because of the lyrics.
Because if ever there were a reason for doves to cry.....

I didn't of Prince's song but you are right. It's a good fit. I was thinking peace doves but the beauty of Japanese poetry is that is open to interpretation. Thank you very much, I appreciate your kind words and insightful review.

So true...the writer offers-- the reader folds in his or her soul and together, they make poetry...

Thanks for reminding us of Hiroshima. I just learned of someone who survived both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Amazingly, he lived until he was 93..He views this as a gift to share his story.

Septolet for the Japanese Poetry Club
Hiroshima Day
Gypsy your CONTEMPORARY SEPTOLET made me sit back and remember when I was a young girl when I heard on our radio about the bombing of
Hiroshima. I liked how you described how there was silence

You did a good job with this poignant septolet, Gypsy.
The site runs a contest of septolet at times in the daily
writing prompt which isn't the contemporary one. It's
difficult to keep them separated. I like your color scheme
which emphasizes the drastic measure and loss of life. Your
words are well chosen. In the notes, Pearl Harbor Day is
December 7, am I missing something? Hiroshima was Aug 6.
and Nagasaki Aug 9.
Respectfully, Jan

fanstory's poetry dances description of a septolet poem= 14 words broken between two stanzas that make up the fourteen words. Each stanza can have seven words each but that is not a requirement. Both stanzas deal with the same thought and create a picture.
. I researched and found three internet sites that I added in my author notes. Here is the link for the formal (syllables); and informal (words) history
Thank you very much for letting me know about the right date of pearl harbor, i fixed it. :)
Thank you very much for the helpful review.

I like the idea of raging wind. Angry at the rising mushroom cloud, and setting out to disperse it does more damage - or chooses deliberately to spread the damage like we spread the word? there is a lot to think about here. Kate xx

A lovely poem in remembrance of a difficult day in the lives of many families. Thanks for the information about the Septolet poem in your notes. I'm glad to learn a new poetic form. The presentation is poignant with the lone white dove. Blessings. Carol
