Thank you for sharing this. You are a hero in my eyes as you raised your children and grands! I can imagine how hard this was to write.
Loved reading about how much your younger son admired your older son. And your older son kept modeling that good behavior to follow.
Best wishes in the contest!

One comment about the last line. I always thought it was "towed" but it's "toed." https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/towed+the+line

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. My oldest really was a helpful influence on his younger brother and he worshiped him. Thank you again for your help. They did catch the one who did it and the trial was one of the most difficult things I have ever gone through. I raised his kids, Oldest was 4. The youngest 2 weeks.

I can feel the pride you feel for your older son coming through. I can also feel his sense of responsibility. It's a lovely piece all around. I look forward to reading more of your work.

OMG! My heart goes out to you for the death of your youngest child. I know well how that feels because I too lost my only child in an accident. I don't know you, but I extend a hug from the distance. I love this poem about your oldest son. It is well-written, and I can feel your love for him. Blessings, I wish for both of you.

My heart dropped when I read your author's notes. I am so sorry. I know this was hard for you to write. May he rest in peace. I did not expect the ending. Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story.

Your contest entry I a great tribute to both sons, Annie.
I enjoyed reading it, though it was poignant after
reading your notes. Great job with the smooth flow,
the rhymes, and the heartfelt message.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan
