Hi Mark, Very nice. Your poem is filled with vivid imagery. Bisons are on the increase in the US. Beautiful presentation. I especially liked:

shaggy bisons tiptoe among
hot spumes

As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

Excellent entry for the
Cinquain Poetry contest.. I love this form. It's similar to haiku. I like your poems imagery and presentation. Good luck!

This is awesome Mark. I remember how much you love the buffalo, excuse me sir, I mean bison. Haha! However if you ever get to MN, you should visit the town of Buffalo that is only 10 miles from me, and also where the trial of that guy who shot up the Allina Clinic that I wrote about. Anyway my point being that there are statues of them all over in the town. I love your poem, and the photo that went perfect together my friend, My husband and I were just there in the fall off 2019 after following the coast from California through Washington. It looked much like this but we didn't see many bison. Yet your descriptive words are perfect for this breathtaking art work of God. Awesome my friend!

    Thanks Debi !

We visited this great national park just once. It is a fantastic place to visit and experience. We saw many animals, including herds of bison during our six day vacation in the Park. It must be something to see ?live? in the winter!

    Erika,

Thank you for your most complimentary review. We visited this Park 40+ years ago. It was a fantastic visit in late September. Just outside the Park boundaries is a park that is located at exactly 45 degrees latitude. They bathe in the hot water runoff from the Yellowstone thermals all year round.

Here I am. press agent ready for duty! (smile)

First--atop your poem title is this:

"Conquain 2-4-6-8-2 (muggy mist drifts above)"

If this spelling was yours and not the contests, please trade in your "O" and buy another vowel. I hear "I" is on sale today.

I'm being cheeky. Sorry, It's a lovely day today and my heart is springy!

Your Cinquain perfectly depicts the image shown. You pull out all of your craftsmen's poetic tools and paint with words like nobody's business.

I am so used to seeing this form center-aligned that I smiled at your left alignment ~ you do nothing my chance.

How clever to have your poem aligned left as the bison exit stage right!

Not many would be inventive enough to describe bison as on tiptoe...

There is a majesty and grace conveyed in that... It works so well!

I won't say it, I just won't go to the alliteration thing again.

(I just did, didn't I?!)

Love this Mark.

    K,

    I bought the ?I? LOL

We visited this great national park in late September 40+ years ago. We stayed almost a week. It likely is my top park choice. Grand Canyon (two visits) is likely second.

The park rangers warned us not to get too close to the bisons because they can gallop at 40 mph - a bit faster than any sprint I ever attempted. We saw Old Faithful and others spout. It must be a fantastic visit in the winter.

    So pleased with your review!! Sorry, the alignment was an accident because I had a Lune poem in mind but then saw the free contest announcement. But I gladly go with your analysis. Can?t envision these shaggy beasts tiptoeing through the tulips (-;

Well, they could tiptoe for the tulips. Once. I think they'd lose their petals!
