A very good rhymed poem
for the " An object writing prompt contest."
Great imagery. It flows well with good descriptive words that paint a clear mental picture.
The rhymed form is well executed and follows the contest rules.
I like the ending too...it's moving. It's interesting to read what you wrote years before...almost a different person.
Good luck in the contest!

Thank you for this nice review.

I enjoyed reading this about your diary. I'm sorry you lost your dad so young. I thought the part about the pressed flowers from his graveside put that across well, so you didn't really need to also mention it later in the poem. "The crushes, the laughter, the tears" was my favourite line.

It's amazing what we can learn from ourselves, if we only give ourselves a chance. A diary always sounded so fascinating to me, but being a boy, socially, I couldn't keep one. I would love to have similar memories on paper as you have now, my parents' divorce, my mom's remarriage, my dad's death. But I do have them in my head at least.
Very nice, thanks

Nicely Penned! I wish I still had my diaries (lost in a fire), but thankful that I still have a lot of the memories burned into my brain.
I wish you great success in the contest.
Hugs and lollipops from my heart to yours

Yes, yes, yes. Diary was one of my first thoughts when I read the title of this contest. It is great to have a diary - for many reasons. I am now considering buying a nice clean diary to create one for myself :)

I think you should! It can be cathartic and you can look back on it later and laugh....thats what I did. Thanks for reading my poem. :)

I love that this is an ode not just to the object itself, but what it means to you and the contents within. I enjoy reading my old scribblings - especially the teenage ones - because despite the random angst and rudimentary craft, there are some great ideas in there and beautiful phrasing I'd never think to use now.
I very much enjoyed your piece :-)

Great image and colors for the text and background. The poem is free of spelling errors and is easily read. The sequencing is in good order and as the poem developed I had great sympathy for this young girl. I am so sorry for your loss and so impressed by your talent.
