Another nice poem by the author. I like this one very much in both words and meaning of the words. Life is like sailing down a river to the ocean. Individual water drops evaporate to the air. Super sweet.

What I like about your poem is the way is sounds. It is similar to a stream of water that speeds up in certain moments to slow down in the end. "Drops await ascension" - this is a great summary, as it can be seen on multiple levels - with people as droplets of water awaiting their fate.

I very much enjoyed the linking of human life and aging to the onward rush of a fast-flowing stream. It reminds me of the adage "time waits for no man". I enjoyed this poem particularly for its imagery. Kate xx

This one speaks to me! The years whirl by in a blur! Yesterday I was young! "Age" seems always to be a step ahead...

Ah, but I'm slower now, and tire easily.

I can't escape the rapids!

Hello Gypsy :)
I really enjoyed reading your modern tanka.
I like the simile here and I totally agree that every day seems to pass faster the the last.
Well written and presented.
Best wishes as always, Debra :)

Very well said and written using metaphors of how life passes us by so quickly and as we age, we do feel we are on rapids. However, like water flowing into the ocean, our journey hopefully ends in heaven.
Beautifully written.
Best wishes,
Mary

Fine use of metaphor here, to explain the passage of life, like the river, the will evaporate and return to water to fall again, as a literal explanation, or also as the ascension into heaven.

Very well done, Gypsy. :))

This poem is beautifully expressed, painting a visual picture in the mind of passing time and what lies ahead in life. Or perhaps, after life.

Well done.

Have a beautiful day

I always find your writing very interesting. I have never quite looked at water as in relationship with Christ. . .but okay. It works. your words flow nicely and just like the water take on a life of their own. Best of luck with this writing. Great artwork too.

It doesn't have to be religious but in Spain the word, ascension, is related to Jesus christ.
