Hi Jesse! Thrilled to see you posting! I appreciate a little wry humor.
Of course, we all know it's a serious subject, but hey ~ we get through life with a wink and a nod, sometimes... Concentrating on the positive is good for the spirit!

Loved this stanza the most:

"Blue skies and sunshine
Our happy days are here
Let our tears fall like rain
So, we don't live in fear."

Sometimes we need a "climate change-of-perspective" when our own lives are looking stormy...or parched!

Excellent!

Pretty sure you're getting my last six of the week!

Smiles--

Karenina

I agree there is climate change. I read an interesting article the other day about how humans have very little to do with this, but natural evolution. The article said humans and human devices only cause less than 5% if the CO2. Makes one wonder why this fact isn't coming out.

This is a very well written poem you have penned about the beautiful day even if it is satire. We have a son that lives in CA also. You used very good descriptive words and very beautiful imagery. I hope you get rain soon there. Blessings, Teri

I'm not too sure in my mind what constitutes satire. I keep looking it up, and come away more confused than before I started reading. However, I think I get the point of your poem, and take home the idea that you can love something (or someone for that matter) that's not actually good for you. Kate xx

Yes, Kate, you nailed it. You got the point of this satire, and I was hoping most readers would. I took a stab at satire and am happy with your take on it.
    Thanks for your insightful review.
    Have a beautiful day!

Hi Jesse, very good writing and commentary. Rain is desperately needed in many parts of the country. Sadly, the deadly wild fires continue each year. Of special note:

The rain we know is good for us
It's naturally moist
But have it rain at nighttime
With sun-filled days our choice.

(If people could choose, they would want it to rain at night.)

Good rhyming. Beautiful photo. A timely poem.
"Soak up the sun while it's still free ~ Shery Crow."

As a fellow Californian, I worry about our drought often. My family makes sure to use appliances at certain times of day and we got rid of our lawn, swooping for artificial grass.
I enjoyed this light hearted poem, as it addresses the issue without being heavy. Thanks for sharing.

You nailed it! But I guess it's human nature to want to avoid the uncomfortable, even when it is good for us. This is an insightful poem, well written. Good job!

We are having a hot day and a chilly day, a hot day, and a chilly day. It can't make up it's mind. Normally we would have warm days, except a blizzard just might blow through one day in May, but then the sun comes forth and melts the snow. Wow! It is scary. We are just east of you in Nevada Mountains.
Good job Jessie. Nancy:)
