Lipton is lovely as she travels from reality to reality. And Firty Duck Alley is stupendously grimey. Your descriptions of both are spot on, Mike. Love it. Is Lipton / Lindon going to give the reader trouble later on seeing as how they're both involved with magic of a sort? Just a thought. :) Nancy

I have to admit, I realised as I was polishing the chapters up just how similar their names are! I'm so glad you liked this part as it was one of my favourite conversations to write. I like the affection between Roz and Lioton, even if they do walk barely in the same reality.

Thank you for sharing this post with us. I really got a complete picture in the first paragraph of the place visited. The ending of this post ensured we'd be back to read more.

I keep meaning to say, you have a most interesting feast of metaphors in your writing! The imagery you can conjour up is amazing, stomach turning and hilarious! Goodness knows how you come up with them! But keep it up, I'm really enjoying it. Now the charming Lipton with her unique perfume, is another fabulous character.
Perhaps we'll get some clues as to where our evil magician is in the next part, or at least, something to put them on the right road. Well done again! :)) Sandra

Thank you, Sandra :-). It's exciting to have someone reading through like this. The Lipton scene is one of my favourites. I love the idea of someone who can exist mentally in many places, and what that might do to them.
As for the metaphors, I love them (as is probably obvious, lol).
Next scene is a bit long but I don't think I can split it sensibly. Will see what I can do :-).

You have created a great world here, dark and disturbing. Your sensorial description of it is extremely convincing. It seems to be peopled with characters who are just as off kilter as the world is.

The objective correlative of your work reminisces the protagonist and Terence's walk down Fifty Duck Alley in their search for what killed the Millers.
The work highlights the dingy and smelly nature of the alley; their encounter with Lady Lipton and how rather than help them with a clue to the assailants, she got them befuddled with awkward tales.
The work earns its texture through its effective use of anecdotes synonymous with the investigating crime.
Excellent work. Bravo.

Very interesting. Who knew that dirty scorcery existed? I always thought all sorcery was opposed to God as per
the bible. Look at Ronald and Nancy Reagan. They believed in his horoscope more than sound policy. But I digress... Good writing very well done.
