What a beautiful presentation and words. What a stunning flower yet can be so deadly. Looking at this flower, it is no wonder that for centuries writers have written that beauty can attract and kill and from this plant, death is particularly gruesome.
Best wishes,
Mary

This is a very lovely and well written 7/5/3 Modern Haiku. You used very good descriptive words and very good imagery from the art work you chose. I don't believe I want to see those flowers in my front or back yard, even though they are neat looking. Too many cats around! lol Thanks for sharing! love and blessings, Teri

I have definitely learned from this one, Gypsy. What a beautiful flower, too bad it is so toxic and the bird looks a lot like a hummingbird, definitely beautiful. It is so surprising that such a flower could offer something so toxic. Blessed be n hugs!

I like your poem- interesting information about this plant in the notes- good presentation- don't remember seeing these- pretty- poem flows well in a single sentence- I kind of miss the old satori in traditional Haiku- good job

Cool nature poem! I like how you tell us about the sunbirds and how they pollinate this rare and poisonous flower. I especially like how you turn up the heat with the heat of the day, the pollination (flower sex) and the "flame" lilies!

Thank you very much. Today was a hard day and it was hard to write but I made my goal of two poems a day. I'm glad you like it.

Remind me never to accept a bouquet of flame lilies! Such beautiful flowers yet so deadly!

Love the tie in of "flame" to the "hottest" part of the day...

Clever write!

Drawing sweetness out of poison when things get hot? That's my interpretation anyway. There's quite a bit packed into these few brief words. Well done!

Gypsy
My what a beautiful haiku, I enjoyed how you brought out the full beauty of the flame lilies, and the humming bird ( which I see every day feeding from she nectar of my flowers that are blooming.

Your poem was lovely. The pictures you chose to accompany it were lovely as well. I also enjoyed your author's notes - I didn't know what flame lilies were. Thanks for sharing another great poem.
