I'm amazed at how long she was when she married. I'm doing genealogy but my family members were a little older when they married. I enjoyed reading and you're doing a great service.

There were five tribes of Indians that also fought in the Civil War, (Indians who)

Thank you Barbara. A lot of people got married young. I went to school with girls that got married at 15 and 16. It is way to young but I was only 18 and my mother was 17.

I enjoyed reading this chapter. My heritage is Creole belonging to the Choctaw tribe.I appreciate the mention of their knowledge of herbs and the healing properties and how they impacted Sara Ann. This is a biographical piece written very well using descriptive language. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Thank you so for reading my story. Are you from Louisiana. I used to live in the New Orleans and there were a lot of people with Creole backgrounds there. I didn't realized Choctaw was part of it.

Yes, my family originated in France, traveled and settled in New Orleans and Mobile Alabama. The definition of Creole is when your heritage is African American, Caucasian, French and American Indian living in the south. Unfortunately, I haven?t visited New Orleans, but aspire to.

You have done a marvelous job of writing this story. It is a wonderful tribute to Sarah. The old ways are sometimes better than the new ones. I think it is interesting to look into the lives of our ancestors. Nicely done.

This is an expertly written chapter, both informative and clear. I found myself thoroughly engrossed.

Mike

Minor spag notes:

'The couples first child, a son, was born a year and a half later.' - needs an apostrophe in 'couple's'

'At one point, a soldier hit by fire from a Union soldier fell back against him chipping a tooth' - could use a comma before 'chipping'

'She was amazed at their knowledge of herbs and cures for various illness.' - should be 'illnesses'

'In the summer of 1965, the war officially ended.' - assume this is a typo and meant to be 1865 (unless the war went on a terrifyingly long time!)

I hope that helps :-)

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This is an exceptional encyclopedia-like article. It features a string of historical accounts pertinent to the central family of the article, and only fails (I think once) to name the book that treated the account of a hanging. This excerpt made good, efficient reading and creates for the author's legacy a written commemoration of their family's history.

Thank you so much for a great review. I really appreciate the six stars and the comments. Someone showed me the book years ago. I tried to look it up and found a written account on the computer under Ada, Oklahoma Lynching, 1909. I'm not sure that was the name of the book, but you can read about it there. His name was Jesse West.
