This is another very interesting chapter, Beth. You have a real variety of people in your history, and you've taught me a lot about US history I wouldn't have known. Sarah Ann does sound like the person I'd want to have a conversation with too. Well done.

Hi Beth,
I really enjoyed reading about your ancestors, and especially Doctor Sarah. She sounds like a mighty fine woman.
I think it's good to know where you came from, names and dates. I don't know a whole lot about my family history. Maybe I'll look into it someday. I love to walk through an old graveyard, and read the stones (if they're still readable). Once, when hunting with my friends many years ago, we came across a family graveyard overgrown with trees and bushes. Years later, they put a highway through there, and I wondered whatever happened to those graves. I suppose since the 1500's, many graves have been tossed, bones turned to dust.
Thanks for sharing this!
Cheers,
Kimbob

Thank you Kimbob. I appreciate the review and your comments about your own experiences. Not everyone is interested in genealogy but for those who are it is a great hobby and stories about the departed sort pays tribute to lives that are almost forgotten.

I have studied the life of Jefferson Davis and his brother, Joseph. Joesph was the first to have inside plumbing and toilet in his home at Briarwood. An idea thought of and implemented by enslaved people. Jeff Davis was a war hero during the Mexican war. He was roped into the President's role for the south.
Your story is well told and I enjoyed it.

You've put in a lot of hard research compiling all this information and got to know quite a lot about family from the past. And, I bet that you've learn more than you ever expected about family members coming after and even yourself. I must say that you have created an interest in me to do some searching of my own. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric. You are right. I have learned a lot I didn't know and I had fun doing it. I'm amazed at what turns up when you keep looking. Most of what I knew about my great grandmother, I remembered from what my grandmother said about her.

Such an interesting story and has some great history throughout. Hopefully, I can come back through here. Are you still having that conversation with your late husband? Only one little miss with a year, I'm sure. In December of 1[9](8??)61,

Thank you so much for reading this. I so glad you were able to read this one. The one "The Grandfather I Never Met" is part of this series and is her son-in-law. It is still paying. I haven't stop writing the conversation with my husband. I'm still in 1995-96 with. Just taking a short break from it. Take care. I missing you on this site.

Loved all the history you put in this one, Beth! Sorry I didn't have a six for this. Your grandmother was an amazing woman of her time and she made the world a better place! It's this kind of story that gives us the real relationships between people not just the generalizations of white slave owners and Blacks who suffered under them. You shared how your grandmother didn't see race was any kind of issue.

Thank you so much for the excellent review. I'm so glad I managed to write down things my grandmother told me about her mother. I'm sure I'm the only person who still remembers, and she deserved a story.
