Your post did a fantastic job of getting your points across. Your examples were spot on. I learned a lot from this as I tend to "show" too much. Thank you for sharing!

Okay!! Thanks for giving us the inside on these methods, Gf. Your writing always inspires me to immediately put pen to paper. I guess these can be used in any kind of writing, even poetry, Giddy

You've given me much to think about when I write my short story for our local group. You've been informative G and made the show or tell aspects easier to remember.
Thanks

"I like the way you think." For me, sometimes, I can tell something in two sentences that would take me four pages to show. Which in a book the showing might be best, but in a 1500-2500 page short story, the action better be damn important to waste the space. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

This is another great piece filled with useful information. I find telling in dialogue or thought an useful tool. I have done that in Differences book 2. Thank you for sharing and have a great week.

A very useful instalment. You have clearly stated the rationale behind the relative benefits of showing and telling. This is one I'll have beside me when editing my book.

Being a big fan of Lord of the Rings, I loved the prologue, you already had a a profile without working out what their cultural leanings, they were also opportunistic too. Seeing they instrumental in the whole series. But thanks for this G, blessings Roy

Yes, I find this one of the hardest things to get right in a story. We all have our flaws I guess, no one's perfect. Thank goodness. Nicely described, and easy to follow, top marks for that. Worthy of a six. ~Mel~

Your series is performing a fine function here on FanStory, G. But you know that. If Tom thought about it at all, he'd offer you a contract to offer a course or three there ... like he does for poetry. The advice and the examples you use are gold, friend. You shouldn't have to pay for their dissemination yourself.
