Wonderful story! Rich narration brims with life. Quite a cast of characters. I am unable to commit to following fans' new books, but I wanted to stop by and read a bit of yours. I picked this chapter because it was one short of a blue ribbon. Glad I did!

Thank you so much for reviewing this. I just find family history interesting. Since I been on Ancestry and had my DNA done it is easy to find what others have discovered. I really appreciate the six stars.

Wow! My mother came from a family of nine girls and I thought that was something. I understand the cabin-boy bit. My father was also on his uncle's ship traveling back and forth to Ireland at the age of fifteen.

Thank you so much for reviewing this. You mother's family had no boys? I'll her dad was disappointed. My men seem to want boys in the family. They are nervous being surrounded by too many women. LOL I really you giving me another of you six stars. I didn't it.

Wow, what a hardy family line! It really makes us wonder how they survived. I liked how you mentioned that Grandma Annie felt sex was only her marital duty. I wonder how different life would have been if any of them knew about even the rhythm method of birth control. I'm glad you are sharing about these strong women (even though it's about your grandfather, I still am thinking about his two wives.) I think of all the controversy about Roe vs Wade today and wonder what they would have thought. Thanks for sharing. Good history on a personal level!

I don't think they would want Roe vs. Wade struck down. They would think abortion was a life saver. They tried their own methods which meant poisonous drugs and coat hangers and a lot of them died from desperately trying not to have another child. Thanks for a great review. I think fear of pregnancy kept all of them from daring to enjoy sex.

That was quite a houseful. Being an only child, large families have always fascinated me. Those poor women to had to take care of everyone. Your grandfather sounds like a wonderful man. You have a very interesting family history.

I know what you mean. I'm an only child too, but I sure come from families that were filled with kids. I would have given anything for a sister or brother. At least I thought I would. Who knows. I didn't get the change to find out. Thanks for a great review.

Watching siblings over my lifetime, I'm glad I didn't have any. I don't remember ever wishing I did, either. My sons were very close and got along extremely well all their lives. That's because I taught them that. I didn't know siblings sometimes fought.

I can't believe how many children there were in all these families. I hope the Supreme Court doesn't decide to throw out birth control while they getting rid of abortion. Lol
