Another fine poem, Gypsy----and self-image is so important----you've got to accept your perceived flaws or it's not going to be a very fun life----it's a tough thing to do when you're young, especially

This was a beautiful and stunning Haiku, Gypsy. Beauty is as you reference not on starving thin models with robotic stares, but beauty and perfection seen through one's mother's eyes.
Poignant and warm.
Best wishes,
Mary

This was beautiful, Gypsy. I really loved the picture of the bowl with the cracks of gold. Your words were rather profound because they showed that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Blessed be n hugs!

There is rare beauty in imperfection. Leonard Cohen's song "Anthem" has a telling line:
"There is a crack, a crack in everything--that's how the light gets in."
Your beautiful poem reminds me of that!

I like your poem- it tells story of an sad an imperfect person looking into a broken/ imperfect mirror- trying to understand the reflection- who she is - comparing it with - society's interpretation of perfection- model''s/ fashion- external beauty vs mother's love- trying to despise- what should i believe??
Don't we all?
Sadly? We are who we are. We are we think we are. And we are we think other people think we are.

Hi Gypsy,
I have being trolling through your work to see where I can allocate my six to... and as your work is pretty much always exceptional... it is standouts such as this magically composed poem that took my full attention.
To have a beautifully woven and flowing set of haiku's telling a story just warms my soul.
Yes, exceptional in all of its form, presentation, subject and composition.
With our thoughts we create...
the perfection of imperfection.
Kindest regards,
James.

I like this one Gypsy. You did a good job crafting this form and making it meaningful with depths of feeling, both the loving mother and the self reflection. Great job.

I like your reference to the kintsugi pottery. We all have cracks but God sees the gold in all our cracks because He loves us just like the mother in your poem who sees "through the cracks of gold."
