Have an interest in American history so this book should be intreging.

Your Prologue defines in enough detail why you are writing the book to draw a reader's attention.

Seems to be quite a current push in geneaology, so that adds another dimension to the book as well.

Absolutely, Beth, I couldn't agree with you more. It's so important to know where we came from and why. Since I've found my family in the US I have been lucky to have an extensive family tree going back to when they came over on the Mayfair. I wish you the best of luck writing this and I will be with you all the way. Ulla:)))

I have couple of Mayflower ancestors too. Maybe we're related. I have John Howland and wife and Richard Warren.

I think you've read three of my chapter already. "A Simple Hero. The Perfect Helpmate and Grandma Annie." They are all my grandparents but I will telling about other people I only know by what I've heard or read.

I've been deeply involved in genealogy too, Beth. I've done my DNA test, hoping to find more history on my families, but so far there is nothing knew. My grandparents were all gone before I was even born.

I look forward to reading what you remember and what your research has revealed.

I think the only way you're really going to learn anything is to make sure your DNA is on Ancestry and join the site at least for a few months. If you didn't test with Ancestry you can still download to their site. The other way is to put the ancestors you have the names, date and location for in a search engine. They can find other people researching the same ones and you can get more dates and names.

I am on Ancestry and did my DNA with it. I think the problem is, not many of my family have done their DNA yet. It might change in time

I began reading the chapters before I read the prologue!! Going to be an interesting book and I look forward to following it along. I've written one memoir just to share with my children and grandchildren how and where I grew up. You are taking on a much heavier, but what will prove to be a prized result. Good luck. ann

I hope I can find enough information to make it interesting and I decide I 'm biting off to big a deal. I'm still trying to write about my own life.

-Very nice artwork, Beth, and a good idea for a project.
-We took the DNA test from Ancestry and found out a great deal about our ancestors. I have always been interested in it.
-You wrote a good prologue, and you are right about only having many of our ancestors in our memory.
-It sounds like a very interesting project.
-Good luck with it.

Your prologue is well written, Beth. You gave readers
a great little peek at what's to come. I like the image.
I agree about how soon many forget those who went
before them even in their own family.
Best wishes with your endeavor to uncover your past, Jan

I think this is a great idea and your motivation seems genuine.
I did a lot of research on both sides of my family years ago, and
I'm happy to say that pretty much everything I had been told was
mostly accurate.
My only caution to you is to please depecit Native Americans in true facts, not what has been taught in history books. That version is lopsided, as Columbus did
not discover America, Native Americans were there first. I bring this up so readers won't become offended. I think the concept is an intriguing one and I'm sure the journey will be a rewarding one.

Thank you for a great review.
I agree with you that the Indians got a raw deal. They considered everything here was theirs to use as they needed it and they moved around to where food was plentiful and we came over and started claiming the land like it was ours because we discovered it. I don't really know how that can be made right other than tell it like it happened. Who can blame them from attacking the settlers when they were being pushed back.
