Hello my friend,
I like the way you transition between stanzas with:

)The ice malaise of writer's block
cascades into a session

of words and thoughts(...

A style rarely seen at FS. Bravo!

This is an excellent use of metaphor and the reader is able to visualise the anguish of writer's block before the poem springs into life. The metre and rhyme evoke the power of the poem being borne into existence. I think that the last line is particularly strong and encapsulates what we all deire to do. Thanks for sharing.

Inspiration sometimes come unbidden, sometimes through desperate summoning. Whenever it comes, it is always welcome. It will always find a welcome home in the heart and mind of the grateful writer, who will seek to make the very best use of it while it remains.

Hi Fleedleflump! I really enjoyed this outstanding work. I find it so difficult to use rhyme and make it work. You did a great job. I had to read several times to appreciate all your words and images. Thanks for sharing.

Mike, strong metaphor brings the thinker/ writer to a point of connection with you. How many of us who claim to be writers have not had that Viennese Waltz free our thinking mind so our soulful mind can be released without constraints so the words flow - like water rushing over the eddy ....? Quite good, Mike!

Thanks so much :-). I see you know the feeling of words flying on their own terms, letting the air dictate their direction...

Our muse is funny like that lol. Think too hard and forget it! Relax, the muse says. This is a wonderfully crafted piece. I enjoyed it immensely and know many here relate.
God bless!

I really like this, Fleedleflump. It has a strong movement and a lyrical rhyme/meter that (for lack of a better verb, please forgive me my lyrical qualities are failing me right now . . .) pull the reader through the work with relative ease. Your imagery is quite strong as well. I normally am not a fan of near rhyme (passion/session, for example) or the choice to wrap stanzas non-uniformly (I like the symmetry of all the lines running together or none of them), but I make an exception for this work. Marie Howe has talked about how inspiration can hit all at once, though it's usually a byproduct of putting "the work" in during your struggle of not being able to write anything for a while, with a sudden decision to give up and just write something new or something in a different way. It seems like you've had a similar experience. Very nice work here. Thank you for sharing - lots of great things to consider here.

Thanks so much for the great review and words. My meat and potatoes is Sonnets, so I'd usually agree with you on partial rhyme and structure, but this one came with a built in flow and quite a purpose! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it.
