I get your point and it's a cute poem. It's a little complex for a child's poem and a little simple for an adult poem, but I'm a little simple so I like it. You are so right about every child needing a dog.

I enjoyed reading this poem about My Dog, Red. You used very good descriptive words and realized why you needed to keep the dogs name Red. Thank you for sharing. Blessings, Teri

Very clever children's poem and shows a lesson too in why the dog's name cannot change. This charming poem should have been entered into a children's contest as the rhyme and story are perfect for capturing a child's thoughts.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thank you for your kind review and generous rating. I wrote this for the children's contest but it got stuck in review without me knowing so I was too late.

Cute poem. You could have put it in the poems for children contest. I had blue heeler dog and she definitely had blue tone to her coat. However when she got older the blue turned red. I named Roxie which means dawn or light. So either color would work with the name. I'm glad to see you're still posting.

Always? I doubt it. He's a dog with a nose. Interesting smells will distract him. Pete's favourite colour might be blue, but Red needs to know who he is, just as Pete isn't Bill. Cute poem, good rhyming, bumpy metre but it doesn't get in the way of sounding like a fun poem for kids. I agree with you that kids should own a dog - it's a great way to have a friend, be active, have fun, learn responsibility and empathy... and keep the parents poor with veterinary bills.

The family pet teaches children responsibility and caring, you made me smile here with your clever rhymes and your wish to change the dog's name, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
