Quiet times make you think so you remember the good and bad times. Getting older brings many great memories to the surface. The happy times are always the best.

Who woulda thought you could say so much in such a restrictive poetry style? The words bounce along nicely, and the syllable count is perfect and so is the message.

Very nice.

I love this poem, as it really shows how getting older seems so far off. Then you blink and twenty years are gone. And as much as you know many things that happened in those years, you just don't know how it went so fast. And you are so right that as much as yearn for years of past, its nice to be in your comfort zone, doing what you enjoy. What a wonderful job, painting the picture of what so many are going through. Nice job!

This tetractys, Growing Old, has the proper formatting and paints a somber picture of the life left after we have thought our best thoughts and made all our moves.

Might be true. I long longer rattle sabres but occasionally a butter knife I can cut almost to bone. Aah, the memories of youth, the smell of an exotic perfume, wind through my hair upon the sea. Peace, be still.

I am with you here, as will be a lot of readers. Well said, with the metaphor of time as a thief. I think you have crafted an excellent entry. I wish you success in the contest.

A good entry for the Tetractys Contest. It doesn't flow well i had to read it a few times to understand. .

The theme about wasted time and failed relationships is interesting.

Well done! I wish you the best in the contest.

Hello author, very good. Your message is clear, and it's a message that is understood as a person ages. Your poem reads and flows well.
Of special note:

And thus, I now love quiet times the best.
(Amen, and in the midst of silence, there is beauty.)

Well-chosen photo. A poem of truth. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

I like the addressing of time personified as a "beast" that steals one's "mind and body." But there is a peaceful acceptance of enjoying the quiet times. Best wishes in the contest!

This poem makes a sad comment, one that I'm all too familiar with. I reflect up days I could skip and climb trees and oh so many other things in more recent times. This struck a chord with me.
