This is a fantastic poem. I enjoy how the reader takes the entire beach journey from the water to the sand and down the way. Also throughout the entire day from playing and picnicing to cooling when the day is almost through.
"Sand built" and what the seagulls scream are my favorite lines.
"but that's okay because we really love it" is the weakest line. It could possibly be reworked with something about being messy, melting in the sun, or not caring. The poem is so strong it's ok if not.
Again, I think this is a five star for sure.

and then we grew old, and the walk from the car to the surf was really long. The sand blowing constantly causing me to itch where sand should go, and then because as grandparents we haven't been in the sun, we burn. Still, the memories are sweet.

This could be used to demonstrate how a simple idea can be turned into a simple rhyming poem. It could be used as a start point to writing poems on many different types of emotion.
