It doesn't matter how true we think it is or not does it? No matter what profession we are in, professional or amateur. There is something about Friday the 13th that keeps us 'waiting for the 14th'.
Good job

I enjoyed this Friday the 13th poem. This is a creative response to the prompt. The photo is a little creepy, but effective. You should repost this during Halloween:)
Thanks for sharing your rumor.

I worked in a nursing home, the head nurse warned us about the full moon. Strange things happened during the full moon. It wasn't a joke. I thought it was. After midnight, a few patients walked down the hall fully dressed in street clothes. Patients we normally assisted with socks, hose, and shoes put them on themselves. I asked one lady, where was she going?
She said, "to work, I have to grade those papers."
This is a great story.

Carolyn, the things we know ...one could literally write a book, thanks for being a care provider in a difficult environment.

Hello JLR, A fun poem. Strange things do happen on Friday the 13th.
Your poem reads and flows well and your message is clear.
Of special note:
The unexpected, behind the curtain, is in play.
Something surely will rattle our chains.
Any moment today, putting nurses under undue strain.
(And the ER doctors too. My son is an ER doctor, and there are just certain days and holidays that he knows that he will be greeted with havoc when he works through the doors. Luckily, he's off from work today.)
Great photo choice. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

Late Bloomer, of course teh Docs are uniquely gifted for these who serve in ER. But this was the last day of National Nursing recognition week -- so ergo the nurse focus.
-
The ER would be no where without its nurses. I was just sharing with you that I can relate. Cheers! Have a great day.
LateBloomer ... still bloomin' after all of these years. Lol.
-
Smiling back! Thank your son for his years of dedication to his important mission.

Covid was a tough one. He was never in the military, but he was on the front line without proper PPE. In the early days, people were dropping like flies. LateBloomer

This twelve-line, free verse about Friday the Thirteenth, The Emergency Department, takes the readers to a place where bad things are expected and the worst, perhaps, on this day.

Roy, thank you as always, those pesky sink backups always seem to come at the worst of times for me. Usually when are having guests over for a meal, ugh
-
That?s right

Thank you for all your work volunteering! And yes, I think some of the superstition about the 13th may affect the day's events. I like your poem's focus on the extra strain on the medical staff on such a day. Best wishes in the contest!
