This one-line poem is excellent! If the deadline has not already passed, I wish you luck in the contest! I think it to be so awesome that you found such an eccentric rock in your backyard. Well done, and thank you for sharing!

What a wonderful talisman. It is good to feel the protection of a tangible reminder of grace. It is a challenge to write a whole story in such few words.

For a small poem, these words say so much. The foundation has to be sound to build anything. I think they are very wise words. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing. Take care.

Thank you so very much for your very kind review and words about my poem about my rock. Before my husband and I built on this land it had always been a hayfield on the multi acre family farm, so nobody had ever lived there before, so whether it came from under the ground or where, the cross is definitely a sign to us. Thank you for your lovely comments.

' My Mysterious Rock ', is short, succinct and delightfully descriptive. With a minimum of words this talented poet has told it as he/she sees it. Good luck with the contest. Please let me know how you get on?

From whatever source one receives inspiration that turns into a means or a pathway to salvation, one should at once take it, apply it and use it. To ignore it could very well be the first steps taken towards destruction.

Thank you so much Nomi! This rock still baffles me twenty years later, as we were the only ones to build on this land for at least a couple centuries. The farm has been in my husband's family for generations and until we were given the land by my in-laws, it was a hayfield. Not sure what the mineral is that the cross is made up of, but my guess is that it has worked it's way up from the ground, with God's message and I find peace in the thought that it was put here by His Loving Protective Hands! Thanks again my friend for the kind review and uplifting words!

What an amazing story, and what a beautiful rock! I wonder what mineral makes that pretty peachy color. I love your one line poem and imagine it will do very well in this contest. It is unique and tells a great story. Good luck with this poem. I enjoyed it immensely.

How wonderful to find a rock representing the cross of Jesus. You must treasure this rock and thank the Lord for His gift to keep and think on Him daily. K xx

Nicely done ekphrastic poem about this rock that had a cross on it. The pessimist would say it was painted on. But I would say it was a reminder to you to keep your faith strong

And to the pessimist, I would say that I would welcome and
love anyone to inspect it.
But to you my friend, I say thank you!

You're welcome.

a powerful short moving poem about a mysterious rock, perhaps from space that protects your house from disaster and misfortune. Well done. Like the last few words best.

Not sure what the mineral is, that makes up the cross, but have often thought about having it examined. This picture looks amazing. Years ago, someone adorned this rock, and you found it later. I think it would be a nice idea (for future writing) to try to create a backstory for a person who originally left this stone in your ground.

Hi Joanna, thanks for your awesome review and comments.
I maybe should have added in my notes that this piece of land was a hayfield before we landscaped to build on it, and also part of our many acres of farmland. So there were no other people that lived here before us.
I originally had thought that years before, someone else had lived on this land, but my husband reassured me that the farm had been in his family for many generations and had never been anything more than a field; at least for a couple centuries. I know, weird isn't it?
